Time Team's Ultimate Dig Checklist

As we edge closer to our digs, it's time to start thinking about what we'll need to bring with us. Just like a seaside holiday, there'll be plenty of buckets and spades. Optimistically, we're packing the sun screen, just in case the sun decides to grace us with its presence!

But what exactly do you need to bring for both an archaeological excavation and a television shoot?

Thankfully our good friends Derek Pitman and Lawrence Shaw aka 'Career in Ruins' are on-hand to provide a few suggestions. Derek, Lawrence and Tim throw their suggestions into the ring, in no particular order, and you might be surprised by some of them!

Of course, we're bound to have forgotten something, so perhaps you could help us with a few suggestions in the comments below. Extra marks for being creative with your ideas...

Now Tim, you mentioned a tower or cherry picker to look down on the site. Is this still necessary in the days of the drone? It was mentioned in the list, and the drone will now take the place of putting a human in the air for any reason, so maybe no need for a helicopter either. I know that Stewart doesn’t want to hear that, but a good drone will keep everyone safely on the ground!
