S22 | Dig Watch: Knights Hospitaller Preceptory: Site Map (Infrared)

In our next layer of the site data map, we're looking at near infrared imagery collected from the aerial survey.

We'll have a chat with aerial surveyor Adam Stanford, as well as data whizz Pete Spencer, to put these models into context and explain how the various techniques can help us to identify archaeological features or otherwise inform the process of piecing together the past.

Note: Map is for personal viewing only and not for distribution or publication.

OK, I hadn't thought of it that way. I appreciate the insight. :)

i would imagine it the same as earth versus rock. Darker would be rock compared to earth being red orange as the sun would warm this quicker and take longer to warm rock. so maybe the darker would identify the building materials for example.

Are reds, oranges and yellows warmer and blue, purple and black cooler? The legend doesn't cover the colour temperatures....

Kay Theriault

Thank you very much.

If you want to make the map and legend larger, click to enlarge, then right click "open image in new tab"...This will allow you to magnify it more. It would be nice if they'd just show them in the original resoulution, so we can actually read the legend!
