HUGE NEWS IS COMING!!

Comments

Hi Chris, sorry to hear you can't find your name on the flag. In order to have been included you will have needed to actively opt-in and submit a specific name by 20th July, using the form we posted here on Patreon. Names also do not carry over from a previous year, so must be resubmitted for each new flag. Thanks again for your support and please keep a look out for details of our next flag in 2023!

Time Team

Ditto.

Mark Baker

It looks as if my name is missing too. Search function yields no match.

Chris Secord

Thanks for the reply Time Team. I appreciate the release of the old episodes on the YouTube channel which are now freely available to all Australians and not just Patreon subscribers. My main issue is with content shared outside Patreon before all Patreons are able to view it. There have recently also been UK only Patreon offers. I just would like some consideration of the timing of the release of content. I don’t have a big issue with last year’s content being released but it should be part of an approach that is clear to subscribers who are in the dark wondering what will be the next thing non-subscribers get access to before or after subscribers, Keeping existing subscribers should be a consideration as well as getting additional ones.

David Boon

Hi David, thanks for sharing your thoughts and we appreciate the feedback. We’re very conscious of – and humbled by – the worldwide community whose support makes this all possible. One of the best things about this approach is the ability to connect directly with everyone across the globe. Equally, we understand the challenges that this presents in some time zones when time sensitive announcements are made from our HQ here in the UK. For Australian fans in particular, a huge amount has been going on over the last two years behind the scenes in order to make the Time Team Classics episodes available to you on YouTube, and we’re delighted this is now possible. In the last year, we’ve also run a competition especially for participants in Australia and New Zealand. Our next dig site is exploring connections between Britain and North America, and the team are involved in various projects outside of the UK, so Time Team's international position is always in the forefront of our minds. There’s also a balance to strike between keeping Time Team as accessible and inclusive as possible, while also rewarding our closest supporters on Patreon. We think it’s only a good thing for everyone to share some Dig Watch highlights publicly (as we did for both of last year’s digs too), though this is only a fraction of the more extensive coverage and interaction here on Patreon. There is much more exclusive Patreon content on the way, including a live event for patrons to be announced shortly. Thanks again for all your support to date and we hope you enjoy all of the upcoming pieces in development.

Time Team

Brett, totally agree that worse things happen, but from a marketing perspective I don’t think it hurts to provide some feedback. In the first year I did feel I was part of something special I was contributing to. It seems that some of the exclusive content is becoming less exclusive. I understand that is in an attempt to encourage additional Patreon subscribers but just hope the original ones are not lost as a result. I am about to retire and have to consider how I spend what I will have. With things like the trench tours also being shared outside Patreon I am starting to think about where I prioritise my spending. I have no problem with the news being shared more widely say within 24 hours or a few days but this is not the exclusive content I signed up for. I would rather mention it and see what can be done rather than just cancel my subscription.

David Boon

Here here, from another Aussie. I keep waking up to an exclusive email followed by the general release email, all sent while asleep. Anyway, worse things happen at sea!

Brett Fewings

I'm also hoping for news of getting a 3rd dig site this year, if it's not that then I'm sure it's something equally wonderful! :)

Mara Millman

Looking forward to hearing the news. Once again, living in Australia, I will be one of the last to know, unless I get up in the early hours of the morning. Happy for those Patreon subscribers in the right time zones for being first. Hoping that the world-wide nature of subscribers is being factored into the release to those who aren’t offering support. I know Sunday 6pm is a Time Team thing but Time Team is being funded world-wide.

David Boon

The third dig for this season?

Melissa Rybb

Looking forward to it. I'm still just happy you're still with us. You got me through the pandemic.

Ben Rush

I don't think 3rd dig is the special news, we already knew that was happening as part of the regular process so it can't be THAT "special". My hope is Phil. I'd love for Tony to return too but Gus is doing a great job, for me.

Jon Zephanius

Another dig?? :-)

Murray M Wagnon

Excited....third dig? Yes, please! :D But it might be something even bigger! Geophys around Sutton Hoo? Could be intriguing. But there could be something completely out of left field that'll surprise and delight us all!

Kay Theriault

Hmm, not just exciting news (3rd dig?) but VERY special exciting news … intriguing! 3rd dig and you need extra volunteers (hey, a girl can dream! 😄)? 😮 Oooh or maybe setting up a database of Saxon burials (okay perhaps that's even more wishful thinking). I don't know, whatever it is will be good. Just under two days of suspense!

Charlotte Edmonds

Can't wait for Sunday...

Nicholas & Elizabeth Dyer

A few things that come to mind: - A closer look at the Broughton Sarcophagus was considered. - We were teased with short clips of the "GeoFizz Wizzards" performing their "Magick" around Sutton Hoo. - There was some involvement in reconstruction of the Sutton Hoo ship. Probably quite a few other open ends that I forgot here.

Wolfgang Zenker

Picked up by BBC?

Laura Randolph

Ok, going for a LONG guess here, but thinking 3rd dig... THEN thinking of maybe Dr. Phil Harding?? Or even Sir Tony???

Donna Oglesby

Excited to see what the announcement is, whether for new digs coming or a possible return to TV or something else entirely. :)

Jeeves

If its Sir Tony returning I'll be disappointed...

Will Chapman

Very intriguing?? This will be the icing on the cake. Thank you!

Paul

Happy birthday!

Time Team

Yeah, same here. But even if it was a brief cameo it would be nice to see him again. Tony, too. I mean, they can just drop by and say hi, right?

Michael Sperry

Fantastic if back on our TV screens. 😊

Richard Hines

My (perhaps wishful) thinking also, although I’m not holding my breath.

David Pacek

Hmm ... it’s Tony/Phil returning OR an announcement re dig 3 OR a TV series is in the pipeline ... how about all three 😉

Doug Lucey

Phil? Tony? Or both?

christian janus køster

Crossing fingers and toes - is that unlucky?! ;0)

Jon Tarrant

return of an old Time Team member? Phil, maybe?

Michael Sperry

3rd dig to be in the USA?...

Jenna Leigh-Thompson

A series commissioned on terrestrial t.v.??

Mark Freestone

Third dig??

Michael Taylor

My guess is that on the 11th news of Dig 3 for season 2 will be released.

Martin Gibbs

Thank you, but my birthday really isn’t that special and certainly not huge news. 😂😉

Paul

Cool!

Magnus Ekhall

I can’t wait!
