This year, we're going to be dropping in on various archaeological projects that Time Team's friends and family are involved with.
Earlier this month, Dani Wootton paid a visit to Dartmoor National Park, in the county of Devon in South West England, where a team from Plymouth University are digitally scanning an historic farmhouse to create a 3D game environment.
Higher Uppacott is a Grade I listed, thatched Medieval longhouse, with origins dating back to the mid-14th century.
The Plymouth team includes Matt Clark, who joined Time Team's recent digs to create 3D models of finds and features at both sites (you may have seen some of his amazing Sketchfab models here on Patreon).
This technology is increasingly playing a crucial role in recording historic structures, while enabling a wider audience to experience them remotely.
Over the coming weeks, we'll be following the story of Higher Uppacott, including progress on the 3D modelling exercise, and a tour of the longhouse with Time Team's historic buildings expert, Dr Richard Parker.
Special thanks to Matt Clark, the staff and students of the University of Plymouth, Dartmoor National Park Authority and Gareth Allen.
