An Archaeological Easter with Dani and Naomi

We hope you are having a very Good Friday, wherever you are in the world.

To celebrate the Easter weekend, Dani Wootton and Naomi Sewpaul have got together virtually for one of their inimitable archaeological chats... and we have the pleasure of listening in!

In this informal and free-flowing conversation, they run with the Easter theme, covering everything from the development of sheep breeds as implied in the archaeological record, to Maundy Money and the origin of hot cross buns.

What exactly is a 'wool church'? And how can you spot a Medieval pillow mound in the landscape? Join Dani and Naomi to find out.

What's more, Dani is joined by a very special guest...

Perhaps you can help us give the VIP an archaeologically-themed nickname. Please share your suggestions in the comments!

Fascinating! I have run into "grains of paradise" in old wine recipes, and could not find a modern equivalent -- if it's an old East African spice, I am even more intrigued!

I have one for Naomi about Neolithic use of plant fiber and possible dye and weave exploration. Hope I can post a link. Fascinating use of plants in Okinawa and China led me to wonder what plant fiber or dye knowledge has been lost. Can we do a selective pollen search? The plant looks like Nettle?
