2022 Update
While we're here, let's take the opportunity for an update on the next steps of our ongoing adventure...
The dust has barely settled following our second episode, but research and development for 2022 is well underway. We've been reading all your comments and ideas, and feeding this back into our plans going forward. We're also finalising a questionnaire for providing more detailed feedback, as well as reviewing our wider Patreon offering and perks – full details to be shared shortly.
As many noted, we really hit our stride by the second dig, and we're ready to hit the ground running when we return to the field. But perhaps the biggest question to resolve is exactly where we'll be digging.
If you've watched last year's Site Wrestle sessions (available here on Patreon), you'll be aware that there many factors to consider in site selection. It's a complex process involving the input of a wide range of stakeholders, from national heritage organisations and county archaeologists to landowners and the local community.
We'll be delving deep into this process with you in the weeks ahead, and will soon be sharing our updated list of contenders and new Site Wrestle sessions. Of course, not every site will ultimately prove viable, and while some have inevitably been ruled out, we are extremely excited to share some intriguing new additions. (Did we hear Tim mention the Knights Templar?) More details on the way!
As Tim and Emily mentioned in our Big Dome Review, we hope to return to both Boden and Broughton to shed further light on some unresolved questions. We also have more to come on our earlier investigations of Broughton Castle with Suzannah, Lawrence and Derek.
Our Time Team Classics schedule has also resumed, with more episodes dusted off from the vaults. Look out for a new episode from Series 18, posted every Sunday at 6pm (BST).
Yesterday's episode, 'Saxon Death, Saxon Gold' is available here: https://youtu.be/Olmq4KOXaMA
If you're interested in Anglo-Saxon sites, keep a look out for Tim's upcoming Site Wrestle session with Dr Helen Geake.
Over the coming weeks and months, we'll be dropping in on several other projects. We have more from Higher Uppacott in Devon – Dani took a tour of the 14th century Dartmoor longhouse with our resident buildings expert, Dr Richard Parker. We'll also be sharing news from the Yorkshire forest site visited by Lawrence, Stewart and Adam earlier this year.
Thanks again for all your ongoing support – we really couldn't do any of this without you. Having brought Time Team back together, we now have the exciting challenge of building on that foundation for 2022!
Best wishes from all the team.
