OPINION POLL: 2022 Site Contenders – have your say!

We're on course for investigating two new sites this year. If we can reach our target of 8,000 Patrons by the end of July, we'll be able to do three – so please help spread the word! Thanks again for your ongoing support.

Without further ado, it's time to let us know what you think of the contenders...

POLL TIPS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

NOTE

Here on Patreon, you're playing an active role in an ongoing process, and there are many complex factors to consider in planning a Time Team dig.

This poll is to gauge your impressions. We can't guarantee that every site on the list will ultimately be viable, but your input is extremely important in guiding us through the process. What we can guarantee is a truly unique insight into the site selection and development stages as they unfold!

Comments

Site F

Juley Clark

Absolutely C! My vote without doubt!

John Dunn

C, A, B for me. Really fascinated by the Hospitalers project. That’s a clear winner for me.

Keith Gregory

Voted a while ago (for C) but I don't think I commented. A would be 2nd choice and B third.

Charlotte Edmonds

A was my pick as I've become very interested in Anglo-Saxon history--through Time Team--and just wish to expand the knowledge available about the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons.

Elizabeth Neill

C is my first pick and A my second. Both sound really interesting and a good change from Roman sites.

Sue Oldham

Everything looks wonderful! C was my first pick - already in the polling - then it goes B, A, E, and some jumble of the rest.

LouLi

A then C then F. But its all interesting!

D.A. Durrant.

C then A! Everything is exciting!

Barbara Guest

N

Barbara Guest

I voted C but still like E as a runner up, followed by A

Sam Kerr-Smiley

For me C B A but all the sites sound fascinating.

June Georgiou

We have a hospitalers sire with in a mile of our parish but the Anglo-Saxons even beats that. After all we are named after an Anglo-Saxon, Bassa.

Valory Hurst

2nd choice C it is hard for him to Ainsworth us on day 3 (it's his site ... lol) 3rd choice F hardly any stories of greeks in britian 4th choice D anything roman is always informative :)

John Smith

B as a backup. I am a bit tired of Roman discoveries (seen one you seen them all) and would love to see things from our more recent history about which we know rather little. .

Sara Rowland

A and E as backup choices, please. (or all, if the gods of Budget and Scheduling are kind)

Mary Boulton

C -please. Stewart's enthusiasm is catchy .

Amy Fisher

Potemtial sites too biased towards the South of England as were those last year. It's the Knights for me

Jim Linning

Hospitallers, possible Viking king burial and Greece. (C,e,f).

Natasja Koole

A then C then E Enough with the Romans

Marilyn Holloway

My 1st choice was Site C, but as an American, Site B would definitely be fascinating. I'm always happy with whatever you choose to explore!

choklityum

1st choice C, 2nd F, 3rd A

Theresa Crubaugh

1st choice: C , then 2nd : A and 3rd : F

Kirsten Silke

Having watched the site wrestle videos of the Anglo/Saxon burial and the Knights Hospitaller I feel the KH site would break new ground for TT. My 3rd choice would be the Suffolk village. Your community digs were always fascinating.

Marie Anderson

How much ancient Greek archeology exists in Britain? That would seem to be something to get around to eventually. Does this pre-date Roman occupation?

Lawrence Tate

any Roman remains beneath the housing estate.

Simon Dixon

For me D, A then B. I think it would be worth while investigating and rescuing

Simon Dixon

Village community test pits, please.

Evan and Orion

I do wonder when the field will stop using the term Anglo Saxon and begin using Early Medieval, Post Roman, or something else. I think the field has firmly established that there was not a near total population replacement after the Roman administrative withdrawal in the early 5th century. As such, the population remained primarily British. What we are really looking at is a cultural shift driven in part by the increase in North Sea trade as opposed with trade within the Roman Empire. At any rate, it would be nice if we could make the change.

Timothy Herwig

1st choice: C, 2nd is B, 3rd is D.

Fred Schuit

Site F second

Iain Sherratt

2nd C, 3rd A

Betty Nichols

1st: C intriguing, Second D: could it be lost, 3rd B: US connections?

Colin Peake

1st: C because it's unusual, with a bit of intrigue thrown in about the church. 2nd: A because Anglo-Saxon intrigues me (thanks Helen!). 3rd: C, is attractive with the potential for an interesting global story. 4th: E, I love the community based digs but not clear what this one might produce.

Peter Wallace

Site 'C', borderline first. then Site 'A', then 'B'. All 3 look exciting/interesting, and given the other choices, last years Roman site was great, but another so soon? Please stay in the UK for now, given the resources, or maybe lack of, and I'm fully prepared to be proved wrong but the community test pit site doesnt thrill me...(no good reason). Still a great choice again, and any and all would be brilliant.

Mark Lund

Id like any prehistoric site, please.

Joan

Voted for Knights Hospitallers but #2 is the Anglo-Saxon site. However, as an academic, I want to ask why you're using the term "Anglo-Saxon" in light of the past years' controversies re white nationalism? Have you talked about that choice in a video somewhere? Thanks!

Karen Kelsky

Here’s a dumb question: instead of just saying we need to reach 8000 patrons, what about saying to the current patrons if we increase our giving by x%, we can add the third site. Also, have you approached billionaires like Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk for financial grants? And for gods sake, can someone please dig up Phil Harding for at least one dig this year? I know his knees are probably shot from years of digging, but he could be a consultant, or elevated to commentary or co-host duties.

Jason Barnsley

Lets finally get the anglo saxon site we've all been wishing for these last 25 years!

Carrie Beesley

Second choice B, then A. The Greek site sound fascinating, but one that I feel TT's usual format wouldn't be able to do justice to; while the community sites are less compelling to me as a non-UK resident, especially since they wouldn't allow the full range of investigation that a larger site would offer.

John Novak

For me, it's second choice A and third choice B

Jason Mann

Second choice C, third choice B

Rebecca Fletcher

Second C Third A

Yvette Reece

Site E would be my second choice as assisting community digs encourages participation, in this dig and future.

Jeffrey James Smith

Knights Hospitaller for me. I volunteer for St John Ambulance!

Nameri Verdstela

Second choice A, third C

Alicia Grando

Second choice is F, third is D (if the “Dig Village” means the show will be in the format of a Time Team Live (but without it having to be “broadcast” live)). First choice was C.

Martin Burch

Second choice is B, third is A

Jennifer Hughes

Second choice is F (I'd like to see Time Team outside England), and third choice is C (I have a personal interest in the Crusader Knights [1st choice was B])

Timothy Sproule

My second pick is F, the third is B. There is so much to explore abroad, as evidenced by old Time Team episodes. 😉

André Beuving

Second choice is B, third choice is D.

David Long

My 2nd choice is A, my 3rd choice would be B.

Arie Dijkhuis

2nd choice is A, 3rd would be F

Penny Campbell

1 B, 2 A, 3 C, 4 F

Matt Valentine

C is 2nd choice, D is 3rd choice

David S Shields

Second choice A, third choice B

Keri Campbell

Second choice: F

Simone Fritzen

Second choice C!

Nicole Benjamin-Ma

Second choice would be E

Dale Larson

Second choice would be C. Happy with anything!

Philo Marx

Second choice is C

Teresa Rutledge

Second choice A

Toni Hunter

Second choice B

Mike

Second choice E, third choice B

The Fur Trade

Second choice D

Mark Orgill

2nd choice F, 3rd D

Louise Bannister

Second choice B.

Deborah Harding

Second choice is F.

Vin Hill

Second is E, third is F

Eggs Ackley

Second choice: F

C. Miller

F, C, A, B

Erik N

Second choice: C

Donnalyn

B, E, A, D, F

Alan Justice

Second choice A

Jan McIntosh

Second Choice, a Big E for the Community Test Pit

B Grant

2nd choice F, 3rd choice B

Melody Jane

2:a ; 3:f. But all sound interesting

Amber Crouch

Second choice E, third choice F

Nathan Davey

2nd choice: A. 3rd choice: E. But all these sites sound good.

Richard Hunt

Second choice E. All excellent, as usual!

Katie

D and E are my favorites. The challenge of uncovering history under modernity is something we face in my hometown also. And the community dig is a very special idea.

Heather Torrey

2nd Site F - very exciting, if different to the normal TT. 3rd Site E - the community aspect does appeal somewhat

David de Groot

Hi all. Again, I don't like the Patreon Poll System. Its bad when we can all see which site has the most votes. It makes you think its a waste of time voting for the ones with the least votes. But I voted for B Medieval. Purely because everybody seems to vote for Anglo Saxon and Roman. I have no idea what a Knights Hospitallers Preceptory is BTW?

Andrew Gledhill

"F" does sound cool, though.

Margo Lynn

My second and third choices after A would be D and E because of the potential for community involvement. I am not so sure about the site in Greece. What I love about Time Team is the diversity of British sites and how each dig adds to the collective knowledge of British history. There is so much scope already within the potential British sites and the costs of an overseas dig might be better put to deeper analysis of the British digs or even an extra dig.

David Boon

Second choice would be A. Third choice would be E.

Jean-Paul Tolley

2nd: A 3rd: C

Emma chamberlain

Second Choice would be A.

IJnze Kalsbeek

A ...so much more to discover about Anglo Saxon England. D...next I love a test pit and getting everyone involved !

Maggie Bateman

My first choice was site D- I like the idea of community archaeology. Choices two and three were A, then F (in that order)

Tom Stringer

I chose the Greek site, followed by C then B

Forrest B. Boothe

I picked C, followed by B and A. There are no bad choices.

Lawrence Townley-Smith

I vote A, C, then B

Kathryn Sherlock

A was my first choice, but then it gets really tricky! I reckon then D & E tie for second, then F then B & C are tied for me. But they all sound great. Good luck!

Christopher Samuel

This was the most challenging decision I've had to make in a long time. Honestly, I don't think there is a wrong decision in the lot. Best of luck wherever you end up; we'll be watching!

Kurt Thomas Hunt

Greeting to all. I am a Knights Templar. Make my choice even more interesting.

Skip A Apple

My second choice is the Abbey site, partly because of it being Medieval because Prof Aston would have been all over it. As for the Greek site, getting certain Archaeology magazines keeps me up-to-date with the various excavations that are ongoing over there. As such I can't see how it would add much to the ongoing narrative and understanding. Yes it might be pretty and produce "nice" finds but I am not certain convinced that it would be more than that.

Phelim McIntyre

Yes second choice is C followed by F

Anne Collinson

Second choice is Site C: I love the mystery that goes with it! Third choice is Site F: who can say 'no' to a Greek Dig??

HB Murphy

My second choice would be Site F: A multi-period ancient Greek settlement

Lukas Muehlethaler

2nd would be Greek excavation

Keely Hammond

My second choice would be the Greek excavation

Peter Blay

Second site B and third site C. Loving the new shows very much. I am not a fan of Anglo Saxon history at all so any of the other suggestions really are good for me.

Ruth Coffin

Second site E, third F. loving the new series so far but E would get back to alot of the community involvement from the original series.

Kofi burks

First A, second C and third B

Paul Musselwhite

First A

Paul Musselwhite

I believe that this (Greek) dig is extremely important. It adds much needed expertise, exposure and resources to an in progress effort. The understanding of the foundations of ancient cultures is paramount. Greece is critically important. The modern language is an isolate. Greece is the only modern country that routinely produces resinated (Retsina) wine. Understanding of the tenacity of such social values and traditions depends upon the revelation of the antecedents in great and exquisite detail.

Richard Albert

Would love to see site wrestle video for these before I vote. Did I miss that?

Lacy Oden

#1 = B because there is an opportunity for a variety of finds; #2 = F because Greece has so much history to find; #3 = A because Anglo-Saxon is always interesting to see if there is any new info to be had; #4 = C because the earthworks sound exciting; #5 = D because a Roman site was just completed; #6 = E because, although a possible burial site of a Viking king could yield a nice number of finds, history and village development might be obtained from the other proposed sites--?.

Connie L Merchant

I voted for Site E because the community test pit episodes have always been so much fun, with unexpected items appearing in the test pits that lead to intriguing puzzles for Time Team to solve.

Melissa K.

These all sound very cool - I picked site F but site A sounds very interesting too. Think Mick Aston would have loved any of A,B or C!

Paul Marr

I am a Knight of Malta (Order of St John of Jerusalem-Hospitallers of the Crusades) and relish any archeology associated with the Order. I will be traveling to Malta in September to climb in and around the less well known forts and keeps.

Arn Manella

First in the Anglo-Saxon site and second would be the Ancient Greek settlement

Richard Munro

My first choice was the Anglo-Saxon site (A) due to the possibility of burials because osteoarchaeology is my favorite (more skellys please!), but the unknown preceptory (C) also sounds fascinating! Looking forward to finding out more about whichever site is selected!

Emily Laase

At some point I wondered if New England Stonehenge might be of interest. Less rain but more black flies, and perhaps flaky. https://www.newenglandhistoricalsociety.com/6-mysterious-stone-structures-new-england/

Ann H

From outside Boston, so envious and no you are not overdoing it.

Ann H

First: B - Mick Aston would have loved this. Second: C Third: F

Richard Lisle

Second choice C, third choice D.

Kernowes

Second choice Site C: A Knights Hospitallers preceptory in the North of England

Nic Simpson

2nd choice: F, 3rd choice: C

Terhi Törmänen

Second choice Site E: Village community test pit site in Suffolk

Malcolm Hitchens

2nd: E because you never know what you'll find, 3rd: A. But first must be F: I can't remember any talk about Greek finds here so that's got to be new ground.

Martin Ridgway

First is C. 2nd is B since I'm from the US but please don't feel you need to cater to us, I love Time Team for being Time Team. Is D a housing development being build or already built? If you have a narrow window then by all means, if not then E sounds like the sort of thing that gets a new generation excited about Archaeology. In any event I'm sure it will be be great Television

Timothy A Gouveia

I chose A because I know so many of the archaeologists love their Anglo Saxon (and maybe we could get another great hall!?). But seriously, number two would be Greece. A great opportunity.

Ben Rush

A=1, F=2, C=3

Justin T Donie

2nd vote would be D for community involvement and insight into early villages; 3rd vote would be A for further expanding our ability to detect and understand Anglo-Saxon sites.

Dinah from Kabalor

2nd vote would be Greece (Site F) & 3rd is Anglo-Saxon (Site A)

James Dunham

2nd choice Knights hospitallers, 3rd Greece would both be an exciting dig for me personally

Sue Murphy

The site in Greece sounds interesting as a second choice. Something a little "out of the box" for Time Team, although I'm sure there is enough expertise on the team to make a big contribution.

Andy Quick

second choice is village test pits site E

Cynthia Clearwater

Second choice is D.

Gail Dausener

If the 8000 target is reached, I think A, B, and C should be the three sites.

Mark Stephens

Is there an official Discord channel for Time Team? It would be a great place for people to chat in general about ideas and their love of the show.

Le Scoob

i'm really very interested in all three of A B and C. I would've put a vote for each if I could have.

Erica Griffith

I would have loved to vote for the Saxon (A) and for Priory (B) as well. Thank you Tim and Time Team for letting us have fun with you!

Terri

Hi there farmer Rich here. 2nd choise A third B thanks.

Richard Kaskeski

2nd choice is site C.

David Duncan

If international project help establish a strong Patreon base and reputation for the new format then Greek while the option is there. USA link would be a whole extra dimension and I think it should move North in the UK - B: Midlands Priory 2nd choice and 3rd definitely Village dig project -C: Knights Hospitallers. I shall enjoy watching which ever are chosen and really hope we'll get updates on progress on the local groups at the first 2 sites (go beyond the 3 day blitz to see what else comes from it).

mary eld

Would love to see Time Team doing a test pit site again. Loved watching them getting involved with the community!

Emma Cooper

Shame that you can't do them all

Robert Baker

The Knights Hospitaller site - about time a Northern site was investigated! However, I could have plumped for A, B, D or E - I do love the Team turning up astonishing things on people's back gardens! NOT Greece, for a number of good reasons: with 42' in the Med already, extreme climate and wildfires is a major concern: I would also rather Time team investigate what's in the British Isles.

Susie Stockton-Link

second and third choice C and A. Trying to keep in mind the inevitable need for popular marketing and not a subjective choice. what sells and keeps Time Team going..?

Davey

My follow up selection are Site C followed by site A then site B.

David Morrissey

Hi Jon, we'll be sharing more detailed info on sites in the upcoming Site Wrestle sessions.

Time Team

I wish there were better descriptions of what each is suspected to have and what they would entail. My preference would be economical digs which would allow *more* digs! I voted for the community test pit dig. My favorite episodes were always those that Mick would do with local communities. There’s nothing more fun than that. I just love seeing Time Team destroy gardens and flower beds!

Jon Colcord

My follow up choices are F, the Greek settlement and A, the Anglo-Saxon site in Norfolk. Keep up the good work!

Richard Gemmell

1st=Roman, 2nd= community test pits, 3rd= Knights Hospitallers

Matthew Hauck

I don't recall any Greek sites in the past, so I find F fascinating! Pretty much any of the others would be my second choice.

Linda McClure

2nd choice = F, 3rd choice = C

Dorothy Smith

2nd choice - E / 3rd choice - A

Mark & Jill Jefson

The Knights Hospitallers site sounds interesting and new, so it gets my #1 vote. I also like the village community test pit site in Suffolk to add enthusiasts to archeology as well as knowledge. Before I started watching Classic Time Team (streaming) it just had not occurred to me that Britain has thousands and thousands of years of history, all stacked up on an island. I live in the US, and our focus has, unfortunately, been limited, partly to ourselves and partly to Western European "civilization". I have learned so much!

Carol Edwards

Hmmm, I stumped for the Anglo-Saxon dig. But I've always enjoyed the digs where the community got involved so D&E for 2nd and 3rd choice.

Marcus Hill

After (A) then (C), like to see more the North and that particular period.

Chris Horne

Let's get back in time!

Steven R Hamman

C because who knows?

Derek Barham

2nd: Site B, 3rd: Site E, 4th: Site F

Tonya LaFountain

Choice F would be my second choice.

Ray Barker

2nd: Site B

Uwe Schwinghammer

C first but we quite liked the sound of F

Peter & Julia Bradbury

2C 3B 4E

Martin Nuttall

c and then A

Bob Benton

Then A and C

Pamela Moore and Robert Coleman

We picked D because we enjoy seeing the community involvement on the shows. Plus, it is always cool to see someone's back yard, or a parking lot dug up to find a ruin. Site A would be our second choice.

Robb Dods & Monica Ross

C then B and E

Robert Anthony Faulkner

C then B then A

michael purcell

first would be F as it sounds fascinating... 2nd would be E (as community support is so important) and 3rd would be site C.

Rik Kershaw-Moore

Second choice would be A and third F. Looking forward to it, whatever it will be!

Julian Dolina

2nd Choice would be C and 3rd choice F. I loved the digs Time Team did abroad!

Jessica Page-Thomas

Second choice A

Frances Dielmann

C - E - F Since I currently live in Malta and interested in their history, I've voted for the Knights Hospitallers :)

Ingi Jensson

I chose C as I'm northern. But A was a close second. F only if I can go too!

Richard Moss

Other choices C and B

Conan Mills

A as my first choice but F sounds fascinating. I'm always up for a bit of Roman as well! Mind you having just been to Arles, Le Pont du Gard, Vienne and Lyon I may be overdoing Roman ruins!

Nigel Scott

A, C, B

Crumpled Rag

Second choice, A, then F

Steven Pryce

C first then A

Bacail Shadowstran

Second choice - D as I am very interested in Roman sites in the UK, and this sounds like a community project in the making.

Jill Hobbs

Second choice C. Not so keen on non UK (am australian) - not that they are not important - but I feel there is so much that needs to be done in UK, and there is so much less investment around for these projects at the moment due to Brexit/current economic situation in UK.

Sonia

A, C, D, B in that order as all be good

Annmarie Musselwhite

B is my first choice with C second and F third. But all of them are fascinating, interesting, enticing...

Lynn Edwards

B would be my second choice. with E as a third.

Melissa Spray

Other choices C & B

Dave Mccallum

Second F, third E

SamH

Second choice E, third B, fourth A

Keith Johnston

2nd choice E as getting everyone locally involved appeals to me. 3rd choice is B as I like the idea of intercontinental links.

Lynn Charlton

As interesting as Greek archeology may be, it's nothing new. I mean, stick a shovel in the ground and there is archeology. I voted B, because I am very curious how a medieval church was build in the USA! My second choice would be E, because we need a good, old TT with a whole village participating. Make good use of the two presenters!

Goijaart van Dijk

2nd Choice A, 3rd B

SCOTT BRADLEY INGRAM

Site A looks great. Using modern archaeology survey equipment, and seeing more post excavation analysis to add to Anglo Saxon knowledge would be great. A. E. and F. my top first equal choice

mark cox

I would LOVE to see all of the sites done, but as I can only choose one I go for E, because it seems to me to have the best chance to involve the local population and raise interest in archaeology and Time Team.

Wolfgang Zenker

HI Lester, the Greek site is not in Britain, it's in Greece itself! Details of each site are in the previous post. Thanks

Time Team

B, C & E in that order. They all look extremely interesting because of the connections.

Kenneth Brawn

B/D/ and F are good, But thinking F is important since I do not remember, after re-watching all the older Time Team shows, [ on my 3rd time around currently ] remember them EVER doing anything concerning a Greek settlement. Most of the time it is places that have Roman, Saxon or Midieval , never anything Greek, so again, as I stated before, would be very interesting.

Donna Oglesby

If I had two other choices I would choose B and then F. I don't believe that anything was ever done concerning any Greek Settlement that I have ever seen on Time Team, so think that would be very interesting

Donna Oglesby

2nd Choice is A for use of geophys, 3rd choice E to develop community involvement.

Francis Palmer

I wanted to know how and when Greeks settled in the isle

Lester Peterson

So many good options, my 2nd choice would be B, 3rd F.

Michelle Watson

"2nd choice site C

George Parker

2nd choice would be site E, 3rd choice is site F. I love the cultural exchange factor in all of these

Cosette Ratliff

My second choice is B ,due to the US connection and 3rd choice is F, allowing for links with overseas culture.

Val Sharpe

My second choice is Site B. The connections to the US would be really interesting, and Site E's connections to a local area and the local citizens' involvment would also be interesting to see what's turned up.

Kay Theriault

My other choices would be E, F and B. Seeing the community involvement (E) should make interesting viewing, although I plumped for Preceptory first because it sounded intriguing. A Greek excavation would be interesting for a contrast to UK archaeology.

Lyle Walker

My #2 would be: The Anglo Saxon Site #3: The Roman building beneath the housing development to keep it from disappearing under some modern nonentitiy.

leslee hackenson

Oops! I read my emails out of order. Some questions above were already answered!

Chris Siegmann

I'm surprised D isn't getting more votes. Once it is under the development it will never be seen again. Unless it's in another few hundred years when future archeologists get to dig the Dorset development. The Greek site intrigues me. Where is it exactly? If it's in Greece is there any link to Britain? A for third. But that depends on just what time period that might cover.

Chris Siegmann

2nd Site A because Anglo Saxons are fascinating and the site promises more extensive information. 3rd choice Site E with community village test pits since they offer the possibilities of undiscovered history within the local community and great to have local citizens involved.

Ruth Ann Copley

I love the idea of the mystery choice, the test pit E, and including the community.

Chris Hope

1st = E; 2nd = A

Kim Garza

First choice is the Knights Hospitaller in the North of England! Second and third choices would be the multi-period ancient Greek site and then the medieval priory!

Natasha Wu

My 2nd choice is B because of US links; 3rd choice is C.

Stephanie Pratt

My first preference is for the Anglo-Saxon village because that’s the period that interests me most. OTOH the professional development opportunity of sending the team to Greece is my second. I’m certain that whatever site(s) are investigated, the results will be fascinating.

Jonathan Sturm

I chose C, because it's something new for me. But, I'm a sucker for anything Roman, and anything "community" related. What a difficult choice :)

Janie Waters

My 2nd choice is Site F: A multi-period ancient Greek settlement

Jenna Tomlin

2nd. C.

Seda Mcclurg

I clicked B as the "links to the US" has me intrigued, but honestly, we can't go wrong with any of these choices.

John Traphofner

2nd - E, 3rd - B

Fern Wilcox

2nd - B, 3rd - A

Mea Cadwell

I would also like the Greek settlement because I have studied a lot of Greek history…and the test put site in Suffolk because the community has been interested enough to already begin.. so it must be I interesting‼️

Debbie Williams

2nd A; Third C. This is a wonderful choice of sites, any one of them would be interesting!

Julie Turner

1st F, 2nd A 3rd C. Greek archeology is so interesting!

Allen Micheal Hope

A, because burials. D, because "Dig Village." F, because international.

Tor Ravengael

2nd C... 3rd F

Martha Bace

C- Knights Hospitallers... is my 2nd choice 😊

Patricia Amero

C or F

James Leighninger

First choice B, because Templars!!! And I love Roman digs, so I picked D. Then F because it's so different from other digs.

Sally Ramey

Second choice is A, third is C.

Janet Underhill

Second choice A, third choice F

Kerry Hennigan

First choice is F followed by site B and then site C. Thanks for seeking our input!

John Marshall

2nd B, 3rd F

Stephanie Stewart

I chose E, because the community test pit episodes have always been full of surprises, and an experience that we here in America generally can't have. I think my second choice would be Greece.

John Appel

Chose d because if it's a housing development it'll be covered up and never explored. Second would be the test pit because who knows what's there!?!? Third the site with links to the US because that seems interesting.

NZCharlie

Second for me is F, third B.

Kit Heinrichs

Second is B (I'm in the US), third is E. I love seeing the community involved.

Chris Mathews

Second: F Third: E because Vikings!

Lesley Swann

2nd B 3rd F

Angie Tidy

Second F. Third B.

Gloria Carbaugh

Second choice B, third choice A

Ian Smith

First choice: F - Second choice: E.

Nigel Bell

Second choice is A

Pauline

#2: C, #3: A

Joanne Carrubba

Site B, Site A

Carl Johnson

2nd A, 3rd C.

LexFi

Second choice A. Third choice B.

Eileen Lavoie

Second choice is c. Third choice A

Steven Meeks

The fuller picture we have of Anglo-Saxon settlement the better .

Graham Adamson

2nd is A, 3rd is C.

Alan Murdock

2nd C 3rd B 4th A

Peter Hawker

Second choice is C

Wendy Harper

F is #2 because how often do you find Greek sites in England!

Melissa Gordon

Torn between A + C - Chose C

Paul Connelly

Second choice, D; 3rd choice E. (Not at all interested in Knights Templar!)

Rhonda K Hageman

I voted for C, but A is a close contender. This is so exciting!

Jean Buckley

Voted c, quite interested in b. Thanks!

Dave Decker

Second choice is F: sounds very interesting. Third choice is B

Linda Johnson

2nd B, then F

Paul Isles

2nd=A, 3rd=E, 4th=B. Though any of A-F options would an exciting winnter. But for A - links to Sutton Hoo? More geophys?! E and B - full disclosure, I'm in the U.S., so the possible linkages to the U.S. are intriguing. I'm a member of Colonial Williamsburg and always found their articles (from their now-defunct Journal) on connections between the colonies and England very broadening and illuminating. Learning of connections even further removed is like a cherry on top! Further to E, I would love to see some more community involvement, I admit I live vicariously through them, but in teaching the community, we all learn, as well. And it's heartwarming to see people so interested in their history, I have to support anything that aids in that discovery.

Elaine P

Voted C, but second would be B as it sounds interesting and third would be A as I'm sure that's Helen Geake's choice and she's just great.

Kathie C

2nd is B, then F

Julie Walton

Second choice: C

Margo Maloney DVM

Voted for A, but the Hospitallers' preceptory (C) would also be fascinating.

Hunt

Greek Settlement would be fascinating. C and A equally interesting to me. Priory’s we’re never that interesting to me.

Always86

May second choice is site A, then site C. I really like sites with local interests and support. But I would like to give you all a trip to Greece as well. 🛫🕵️‍♀️

bil Jeschke

Second choice would be option C

Jan Hollon

I voted for C but second choice would be B. I’d love to see some medieval archeology this year.

Hannah Farmer

Second choice A, third choice C

Fiona Cottam

This was a difficult one to choose. The medieval priory site sounds fascinating as I'm very curious as to a US link?! The Knights Hospital let's sounds tasty too, and the ancient Greek site because I was unaware of any Greek settlements in the British Isles.

Gary Norman

I voted D as I like the idea of the Dig Village, with the local community getting involved, doesn't seem to be a very popular choice though so far! Option A and C after that.

John Archer

My favorite shows have always been the one where multiple test pits involving the communities because isn't that what time team was all about was educating the communities and I think that that hasn't changed. Although I'd love to see the Greek site or the priory too

Darylyn Phraner

Second choice F then A.

Yehsure

C, B and then F. My partner loves "Middle Ages" digs and we're due one. F because doing something unique just sounds so fun!

S. Douglas Baldwin

Option C followed by F and A.

Matthew Johns

In honor of Mick Aston, E,B, and C. Test pits with local village participation, and a priory would be most fitting and his preferences as well! As he will be watching, let's give him some joy!

thrushgreen

Option C followed by A and D

Jenny O'Connell

I voted primarily for the site in Greece, because I would love to see more TT outside Britain, and periods and cultures not often seen in other TT episodes. Second choice is the uninvestigated Knights Hospitallers site - I like those "blank canvas" TT episodes where the story evolves, twists and turns underway! Third choice is A, the Saxon site. Though if you guarantee Sutton Hoo-quality finds, this jumps up to number one! :-)

Paul Brekke

2nd choice = site B, 3rd choice = site E

Doug Lucey

For options, I think C sounds really interesting, as well as F!

Su Maneck

Second choice A then F, but was very difficult decision.

Paul Wardman

Definitely C, although A and B also look very interesting.

Nik Whitehead

My second choice is the Anglo-Saxon site, but it had to be Greece for number one!

Lucy Huntzinger

I think you have given us some difficult choices. Links to the US would create extra interest from your American subscribers as well as being of interest to us Brits. Greece would be a nice jolly, but I don't think what you can do in three days would add much to what appears to be a large, ongoing programme. So my choice would be B, C and A in that order.

Mike Dyson

My second choice would be site B with my third, site C. Thank you!

Martha Gayle Caparell

F is my second choice, then A

Caleb Warner

Knights Hospitallers is my second.

Freda Bradley

My second choice is the medieval, priory with ties to the US.

Peggy Zwisler

My vote is D then F then A. All would be great for the knowledge gained but I feel those three in that order would be best for expanding the community.

Daniel Defoe

1st Choice D cos the Romans are the most interesting to me personally. A and E are my second and third.. ancient Greek settlement in Britain? is there such a thing? or are u going to Greece? I think one episode there were evidence of a Greek doctor's implements. I thought the dig in Southern France looking for Beaker people evidence was tough ..where are my diggers asked Phil? and inconclusive and seemed like a bit of a waste of time. If prefer we stick to Britain and/or Ireland.

Gillian Brown

Thanks for options my pick is C, followed by D an then B

JFF

Second C, Third F. Appreciate the opportunity to vote and the Time Team Community!

Jennifer Breshears-Smith

My first choice is the Knights Hospitaller's site in the North, my second would be the Medieval Priory with the links to a similar site in the US and my third would be the Multi-period Greek site with the hope that it has not been assaulted by that German Grave-robber who made a mess of Troy.

Peter Farrington

I would really be interested in some Scottish sites

Margaret Kipp

you have a lot more info than the poll .. some interesting stuff

Gillian Brown

I pick F as my second and B as my third. All of them seem great!

Dayna Cordano

Second C, third E, but really any of the above!

Paul Miller

I would really like F as my second choice, going abroad and seeing other traditions of archaeology could be fun. And B seems very interesting too. Actually they all do!

Therese Marie Edman

Second C, third A.

Jane Anders

First choice was C, second would be A but what do you know what period Anglo-Saxon? It is more than 600 years so from about Battle of Agincourt to now. The earlier the more interesting. Could be swayed.

Andrew Ratcliffe

Second is B, Third is F!

Jon Ainsworth

1st A, 2nd B, 3rd C.

Julian Elcock

I vote for the Romans..I always do. But where ever you want. I just want to see more. Thanks for remaining true to the program and fighting for its return.

Martin McGarrity

Second choice is C, if a third dig is possible my choice would be B

Simone Fabisch

Second choice would A and third choice would be F!

Andrew Calderwood

More to come from Broughton...

Time Team

Second choice was B. All great possibilities.

Bob and Pam

Second choice is F

Denise Jones

My second choice is A and my third choice is B

Julie Kistler

I think my second choice would be F the multi. Ancient Greek settlement.

Olivia McGerty

It's Not on the list now, but could you go back to Broughton Manor House for a full investigation? So many weird doors and passageways.

Brian Shrum

My second choice is A and my third choice is C

Katy LeBlond

second choice is C whilst if there can be a third dig then F - the overseas "specials" done in the past were always interesting adding a new dimension to the "normal" shows

Richard Stedall

The Greek settlement was my first choice, primarily because it's something that has rarely been covered (if at all?) on Time Team, so it would be fresh ground to cover. Second to that would be the site with links to the US. Our heritage is so closely intertwined, I would certainly be interested in making new discoveries. Cheers from Texas!

Mick Holden

Second choice, C; Third choice, B.

Ian Wolf

Second choice is B, being from California USA sounds very interesting.

Priscilla Logan

B and E are the second and third choices from me. Who knows what garden test pits will unearth- and in East Anglia. But A gets my top vote. Anglo Saxon again in East Anglia. Love it, whatever is chosen

Sue Tweedie

D then A would be my next choices.. They all sound interesting.

kevin vermeulen

My second choice is Site B, because medieval link to America is just fascinating. Choice number 3 is Site F- similar reasoning: Greek site? In the UK?? How fascinating.

Bernhard Rohrer

I chose C but E would be my second choice and B my close third because it links to our USA supporters

Derek Thom

It seems to be a loosing cause, but I chose the village community test pit. The Greek site is fascinating but TT's MO is quick survey work, not the extended work necessary for such a complex ancient site. TT's MO is also most brilliantly connected with the popularization of archaeology and community involvement in the discovery and preservation of historical treasures of all kinds. I think this element needs to retain the greatest emphasis if TT is to remain relevant and not just another "content provider."

William Tinney

C and D would be great if we can manage 3 sites

Neil Fearn

B, C, A -- Anglo-Saxon knowledge is important, but sadly, not as fun to watch as medieval remains. Original TT tried a Templar site early on but didn't have time to correct looking in the wrong place, so it's a new opportunity!

Jill Lyon

Second choice would be A!

Dave White

Hospitalliers got my vote but Greek and Anglo Saxon were so close. Hospitalliers is interesting because it has a robust non English portfolio of architectural comparative monuments outside England and surviving documentation plus inherently international. Greece is hard to work on site with the governmental scenario. Anglo Saxon is fascinating but has some far right types lurking and adding their own connotations sadly.

Ann H

Sites A and C are my second and third choices.

Cordelia

A and F are second and third choices. They all sound really good so I won't be mad if none of the ones I've picked are chosen.

Faytality

E,b,a.

Amy Singerle

I belong to a genealogy group that traces its ancestry back to the Eastern Counties and I edit the newsletter. It would be lovely to be able to report on Time Team’s investigation in Norfolk To the rest of the group.

JUDITH COOKE

wonderful to have our opinions considered for these sites. Thank you so much for allowing our input.

Le Scoob

Actually I love the sound of them all!

Dale Jones

D and E are on a joint second place because they involve the community. The medieval priory (B) is on a third place.

Marieke van Kranenburg

Went for F because i love anything Ancient Greek :) C sounds pretty interesting as well.

Mike Warsop

Wow, the lineup is excellent and makes choosing tough. I personally went for A as a first, though it’s closely tied with F as well as followed B and C for third

J T

A also sounds interesting, particularly for the application of geophys. And either D or E would be fun from a village dig standpoint.

Janet Sutton

Site C for first choice. Site A for second choice. Then, E and D. Thanks for including us in the planning.

Nigel Brown

Site F would be my 2nd choice

Vickie Betts

I picked C next A followed by B

Jen Swan

Second choice: E

AnneMarie Dranchak

2nd would have been C, sounds really intriguing. 3rd E. Can't beat community test pits and 4th F. Don't see many Greek digs so interesting

stuart sutcliffe

(continued) the earlier the better no matter who.,

Sherry Cartmill

C, B, A in that order first, second, and third

William F. Campbell

I'm curious about early Greek settlers in Briton. For me

Sherry Cartmill

B and F after C

John Anderson

F for me as second choice. Love a bit of Ancient Greece.

Richard Bleasdale

F, C, B

Melinda Nagy

My first was B, with A& C tied for second. E would be third because community digs are always fun.

Scott Johnson

In order and why: C knights hospitalier - lots of investigation opportunities, likely a good story, geophys should be excellent. E test pits - a classic Mick Aston Time Team. Need I say more? A Anglo saxon - a mysterious period where any discovery adds so much to the knowledge base. B medieval priory - interesting, but I prefer the first 3. F Greece - TT has rarely left the UK, interesting opportunity, concerns with travel, cost, logistics. D Roman - could be good, but did roman last year.

Elizabeth Nicholson

2nd choice would be choice A, the Norfolk site. The Greek site is also intriguing. Wish you could dig them all!

Michael O'Connor

How to pick?!? I really enjoy community archaeology and seeing just how you get a backhoe in a garden so perhaps D although F and B are in contention. Anglo-Saxon sites can be so confounding but so very rewarding so E is my first choice. In the end, I will enjoy the Time Team experience at whichever sites you choose.

Jude Edling

Second choice Site C. I'd love Site A, but there's quite a high chance of not finding a great deal, so maybe later on.

Paul Bivand

1st F; 2nd C; 3rd A

Kate

Alternative choices B, D, and E in that order

Brian Heymans

Second choices C and F

Liesel Annible

My second choice B. Third choice C. Fourth choice A.

Ted Vaughan

Voted E as I always liked the community test pit ones. Also has a US connection, so the pottery could be similar to early settlers there. While we're still rebuilding the viewing numbers, need to bear in mind what would build more people subscribing here and watching on Youtube.

Paul Bivand

A, B, E

Don Cook

B,C,E

Cynthia Hutchins

My second choice is B because it's a medieval priory site, 3rd choice is F for the international aspects, and 4th choice D is for the community dig

Janelle Martin

My second choice would be the Knights Hospitallers preceptory in the North of England.

George W. Claxton

B, E and F

Michael Sperry

1st B, the C, F, E,A and D

Starwalker

Site C was my primary, but A and F would also be interesting

Tim Bend

2nd choice: E, 3rd: D, 4th: A, but we'll tune in for any of them!

Joanna Poe

Second choice is A (opportunity to advance knowledge of this time period), third choice is E (I like the community archeology aspect). Any or all will be appreciated!

Rosemary Henderson

My second choice is “F” and third is “B”.

Mónica Courtial

My 2nd choice is B and 3rd choice is D.

Pamela Brotherton

Site C would be a second choice.

Julie Gray

I voted for A, but 2nd would be C, and 3rd would be B

Leah Kotok

I'm curious to know whether choice B might be related to the medieval priory structure near where I live in the US, so that was the clear favorite for me. Second choice would be C or A.

Amy Stallings

1st choice F, since I think a more international version of Time Team would be fun to watch, though I do like the general focus on the UK too. 2nd choice E though, since a Viking king defeated by Alfred sounds cool, and the community involvement ones seem kind of fun. Too bad those two aren't getting too many votes so far.

Gabriel Peterson

I have selected "B" for one of the sites as I live in the United States and I'm interested in the connection. My second and third would be "C" & "A", respectively.

Brian Perry

To be honest, they ALL sound interesting.

Steve Ketcham

2nd is E. I live the community digs because they never, ever go according to plan. 3rd is F. I would love to see the team investigate something out of their natural habitat. 4th is A. I love Saxon, but not necessarily TT's success with it.

Scott Graupner

Second choice A

David Coombes

As usual excited for any, A or F would be the second choice.

Graham Brown

Second choice F

Robert Knudson

Site F: Greece … seemed it might use up TT resources pretty quickly Site D: Roman under a housing development sounds potentially frustrating and hard to piece the story together First choice: Site A: Anglo-Saxon sounds like a challenging dig! 2nd choice: Site B 3rd choice: Site C

Robert Wise

A is my first choice, but only just! C is a very close 2nd, and the mystery of B makes it my 3rd choice.

Rebekah U

For me... 2nd B, 3rd D

Tanya Tonks

A,B,D would be my choices.

Ralph Salier Hellendag

Yes...and all good, but can we have less ' hushed voiceover' and more of the original 'interaction' please????

Wendy Crammond

Second choice F, third choice A

Jim and Susan von Schmacht

B second & E third. all purely out if personal interest.

Sue Stone

Second choice A

Sheila Sanderson

I think the Hospitallers site would be so much fun

Fred

second and third choice C and A

lee

Wow, Greece is really something different for TT. Love it!

Ivor Balke

I chose A the Eastern part of UK is so important in our history and the Anglo Saxon story builds on the Roman times but we seem to know so little compared to other eras. 2nd E, 3rd C

Peter Tricker

Second choice A, third choice E

CCZ

Second choice E, third C.

Robert Boudreau

Second choice is Greece

Peggy Rands

Second choice is E because it's near where I live and I have wanted to go on a Time Team dig for 28 years now.

A Bleese

Sites A and F look very exciting too! I chose the Medieval priory for various reasons but also because Mick would have been there like a shot!

Mark Freestone

Second would be C, third would be E and fourth would be B

Daniel Gray

My second one is Anglo Saxon

Sam Batstone

Second Greece Third Anglo-Saxon

Mary-Helen Armour

Second: A Third: B

Sam Accardi

2nd A : 3rd D

Trevor Rix

Second E, Third C

Steve Saxon

Second choice A

Molly Housego

C was my choice but B was a close second. While I love the idea of Greece I think it is too early to be going international.

Matthew Wasbrough

My second choice is C

Mavvy Vasquez

In descending order of preference: A,F,E,D,C,B

deborah

Since I'm in the US I chose a medieval priory with US connections. My second, along with 25 percent of others, is to go to Greece.

Duncan Chopoorian

Second choice for me is B, then F.

Pauline Guest

Second choice: F, third choice: E

Adrienne

The Dorset one sounds too much the one in South Shields that came up empty.

Paul Tomblin

Second: B Third: C

Kevin Emley

My second choice is B

Julian Hughes

As per my premature commenting incident! A, then E, then F get my vote. I love the idea of applying Time Team tech to an Anglo Saxon site, village test pitting is the essence of Time Team and a dig in Greece has the potential to be another Nevis!

Matthew Adams

Just one is really difficult, but C seemed to be refreshingly different.

Carol Overrill

My second choice is "A" - the site in Norfolk.

Paul Dent
