Time Team Special: Britain's Bronze Age Mummies (2014) - FULL EPISODE

Happy Halloween! It's the end of the month, and just enough time to squeeze in our latest Classic Special on Patreon.

Once again, we have another fascinating episode lined up, as Tony, Phil and Francis investigate Britain's Bronze Age mummies.

It's a race against time to excavate an ancient burial mound in Northumberland before it is lost forever through coastal erosion.

If you enjoyed Episode 2 of Time Team News featuring the Ness of Brodgar, then you're in luck! Tony and Francis pay a visit to Orkney among several other prehistoric sites across Britain.

WARNING: Please note, due to the subject matter, there are some brief images of ancient remains that some viewers may find disturbing.

Monthly Classic Specials

Don't forget, every month, we're releasing one Classic Special on YouTube, plus one extra Classic Special for our members on Patreon (Digger tier and above)!

Love it but please, please please add CC I’m nearly deaf. When I watch, the residents of the cemetery next door are waking

Fun and fascinating. Born in the US, I know my ancestors were from Scotland, England, and Ireland, this show, and what it reveals, is so thought provoking.

In your discussion of Shamanic practices, I did not see mention made of the incredible finds on the east coast of UK of animal skulls being used and altered, likely for just such shamanic rituals. Although to my recollection, these finds were much older (mesolithic period). Can you comment? Have any such finds been found in the Bronze age period?

Elaine McKinnon

Well that was really interesting & Phil Harding was onsite & that was another bonus. I certainly didn't realise this was an older episode, fantastic. I guess that stretch of coastline is now long gone.

Mike Parker Pearson... seriously, I could listen to him talk all day long. This Bronze Age episode is one of my favourites for so many (incredible) reasons. 😊👍

I had claimed up to today of seeing all the TT episodes, old and new ... until this one. This was so good. Very informative and very ritutal. Francis, MPP, Tony and Phil H. were brilliant. Well done.

Mark Gaither

Terrific special! Thank you for bringing this and other specials out of the archives. The 3-day digs have a narrower focus, and rightly so, but I also enjoy and appreciate the broader context the specials give on a particular topic that you just can't get on the typical 3-day dig.

Joanne Kellam

Love seeing all these specials I've never had a chance to see before!

Fantastic episode - my first time seeing it, and it was great to be able to watch via Patreon without the usual intrusive YouTube ads.

Kerry Hennigan

This was an episode that I hadn't seen previously. Really interesting! Thanks for bringing it out of the archives. Especially appropriate for the festival of the Ancestors at All Hallows Eve/Samhain, when I was able to watch it.

Nicole Loxley

That was a fun episode to watch. 😎

Suzi York

Wonderful episode. Couldn't put off watching it. Had to do today.

Robin Kark

And there is me thinking I had enough old episodes to look through and another pops up. But I look forward to this one too :-)

David Cadogan-Cowper

Excellent. That's tomorrow evening sorted out. Thank you
