Many of us were captivated by The Dig, starring Ralph Fiennes as the real-life amateur archaeologist, Basil Brown, who discovered the incredible 7th Century royal ship burial at Sutton Hoo.
The Sutton Hoo Ship's Company is currently building a life-size reconstruction replica of the iconic vessel at the centre of the story, and Time Team is delighted to be documenting the build as it takes shape for a future documentary. We'll share more details as the project develops.

The Sutton Hoo Ship's Company has now launched a Crowdfunder campaign, 'Let's Plank the Ship', aiming to raise £50,000 to help complete the build.

"Working on the film 'The Dig' has given me a compelling insight into the history of Sutton Hoo. I am very excited that a team of volunteers at the Sutton Hoo Ship's Company are actually recreating King Raedwald's famous vessel... I can't wait to see it when it is finished. I wish everyone involved all success in this great project!"
