Here's our Day 3 update!
Remember, what we can share directly from the site as it happens is just a small fraction of a bigger story that will unfold over time. The full picture will emerge as the post-excavation analysis gets underway, to be revealed in the completed episode.

Thankfully, we've been working closely with an expert in Civil War weaponry over the dig, so we'll be exploring the differences in contemporary arms in more detail. 2023-06-21 12:04:18 +0000 UTC“We’ve found a number of musket balls from rifles”. I’m going to go out on a limb and say no, no you haven’t. You’ve found musket balls from smoothbore muskets. Though some rifles did exist around the time of the civil war, they were certainly not in the hands of the common soldiery. Rifles wielded in war was unusual all the way into the Napoleonic era.

We do our best to offer a balance of content during Dig Watch however as I hope you can understand we can't give away too much at this stage, but we hope if gave you a flavour of what is to come. This is just the first step and a window to allow our Patron's across the globe to follow what we have been up to during the dig and production. Stay tuned for more finds and 3D models to come!
