Time Team News: July 2023 - 3D Models

It's been fun putting together our first Time Team News feature. We particularly enjoyed catching up wtih Miles Russell again. Wouldn't be great to see him on a future dig? If only we had something planned...

We'd like to extend our special thanks to Andy Woodhead, who created the amazing 3D reconstruction models featured this month.

Check them out on Sketchfab RIGHT HERE.

Join us again for the August instalment soon. The problem we have now is not finding content, but rather finding space to include it, because we have some great items already lined up!

We'll be entering the lab at Bournemouth Uni to see what happens with the finds from Winterborne Kingston, plus we've been out in the field to follow another fascinating site. And who knows what else might be discovered in the next few weeks?

TIP

To view all of the 3D models we have released so far, click on the '3D model' tag on this post.

Hi Robin, apologies our Sketchfab was down very briefly, and it's now back in action so you should be able to view all models.

Time Team

Yer all I get is 'This Sketchfab 3D model has been disabled.' Mmmm, very disappointing, how's this supposed to work?

Robin

I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again: it'd be a wonderful way to allow people to "touch" these artifacts in a respectful yet also educational way. It'd be a perfect intersection between modern technology and ancient technology. I respect and understand there's likely complicating factors, but it'd be such a great opportunity to print these things.

Ben Rush

Darn that’s the format I thought it was always gonna be.

Dacid Thorn
