Spoil Heap Q&A: Sir Tony Robinson

Comments

I have realized that I need to apologize for comments I've made in the past regarding Tony being a minimally -talented hack that just interfered with people that actually had knowledge to impart.Sorry Tony, I now understand that you had a vital role in helping those doing the research to communicate that information. to us low knowledge types.

Winfield E. Johnson

What reflections Tony. Pleased to say that I now work at a dream historical location and would love a dig there!

Julie Ball

India's history iis a subject mostly covered by known and documented facts and having a dig or digs to cover it would reveal a past long forgotten. I have watched many programs about the the history of such civilisations. I do speak a little Hindi which helps digest facts not spoken in English. In respect the subject is vast and mostly unexplored. Regards. Sean.

Wonderful to hear Sir Tony's answers and perspectives. I too learned much when Mick described what he saw of a towns layout. It's one of my favorite parts of past Time Team shows.

Di

Awesome, it is so good seeing Sir Tony again.

David J. McGlone

Great review

Geoff Wilcock

Fabulous to have Sir Tony back! Loved this Q and A session, and even more of a thrill to have my question be one of the ones he answered!!

Joanne Kellam

Would be perfect material for a new special!

Charlotte Edmonds

Loved that, especially that last bit about Mick describing the features of the town…..still miss him.

Bron Lloyd

Tony is really good here. Thank you.

Connie L Merchant

Charming and lovely as always. Thank you!

Melody Piercy

Dear Sir Tony, Thank you for your winding way career that led you to Time Time. You have a dear and kind smile, too.

Jude Edling

Great to hear the questions and insightful answers

Simon Piggott

What a lovely Q&A. The passion Tony shows is just wonderful. I hope we will see more of him.

Rene de Swart

Great one. Tony always seemed to ask or try to clarify all the questions I had when watching. Are we gong to bring this back?

Garry Matthews

Yes thanks, conflated it producer with director.

Ann H

Presenter and producer, not director.

deborah

I’m so THRILLED that Tony chose to answer my question! I wonder if he noticed my profile picture? Was it like looking in a mirror Tony? 😁

Jon Colcord

I determined that if I was going to be stuck in my apartment alone with the TV on during Covid lockdown, at least 60% of the content had to be educational. I discovered "Time Team" at that time and it kept my attention. Thanks for all the excellent content!

Lisa Joseph

That was utterly brilliant

stuart sutcliffe

Loved this- thank you

Sue Tweedie

Wonderful!

J. Andrew Lockhart

Very grateful for the joy and education that Time Team has spread over the years.

Veronica J. Trevor

Thank you for a great set of answers :)

Neil

Brilliant Tony! Thank you!!

Andrew Lamb

I really enjoyed this piece and hope there will be more. I think Sir Tony was referring to the episode on Much Wenlock, in Shropshire, which is always been a favorite episode. Mick's explanation of the development of Much Wenlock helped me to understand something about the development of cities I'd always wondered about.

Elizabeth Neill

Great stuff!! Thank you TR!

Leigh Francis

Mick was a jewel. I loved his explanations of what you saw and his skepticism toward pat answers.

Vickie Bligh

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thanks to you, Tony! I used to watch a bit of British comedy tv, and was intrigued by Black Adder. But it wasn't until I retired as a pastor (near Boston in the US) and was recovering from brain surgery, that I found Time Team and became a Patreon . You've become my family, all of you. I enjoy the programs, comments, and the fact that I can skip through the years and watch relationships grow and people mature. Watching, I have great appreciation for the way you present—sometimes a goad; an educator; usually an enthusiast; often an imp. And a wonderful voice. Thank you for teaching and inspiring us— looking forward to future shows!

Sue Moenius

Thank you Tony. So lovely to see him again. Can't wait for more

Jill

Can’t wait for the Sutton Hoo boat reconstruction TT episode which I recall Sir Tony has committed tp

Eggs Ackley

Here’s to hoping TT conspires with Waterloo Uncovered in the future, then Phil could have the best of both worlds.

Eggs Ackley

I could listen to him talk all day. Glad to have watched this video

Mea Cadwell

Thank you, Sir Tony. I love TT and also enjoyed your series Walking Through History.

DIANA R NELSON

So happy to see Tony again! I've always loved him. Looking forward to more memories & answers to our questions!

SallyMum

All I can say is that if, in 1994, I had been aware of this activity going on, I would have probably hopped a plane and come to England and joined in. I am from the US, had recently graduated college and would have stayed with my Archeology and Geology studies instead of switching to History and ending up in IT.

Ann

So wonderful to have Sir Tony back on the team. Loved hearing him answers our questions.

Dori M

This Q+A was great, and reminds me of the benefit of being a Patreon - bravo! Thanks all, especially Sir Tony.

Neil Ford

Well done Tony.

Jere Brinkley

So happy that Tony is back and involved. Really enjoyed the Q & A thanks TT

Anne Dexter

Brilliant, Thanks Tony

Maggie Bateman

Outstanding!

Steve Mikre

Lovely man. Just wish Phil would agree to do something in the new format now…(he hinted)

Mark Freestone

My question got picked. Yay. Inspiring story, too. Thanks, Sir Tony!

Konstantin F. Prinz

Lovely. Just lovely.

Doug Mackey

Thank you, really enjoyed the QandA

Sara

Having had the great privilege of excavating at Roman Vindolanda as a volunteer as well as doing a little documentary TV work, I can relate to so much of what Tony talks about. The frustration of trying to get a definitive answer from the experts on camera had me chuckling to myself. It happened to me just a couple of weeks ago as we made an unexpected discovery whilst filming, I was 95% certain what the artifact was but had two cameras in my face and couldn't double-check before making a confident pronouncement and wowing everyone with my knowledge..so, queue fudging and trying to talk my way out of being put on the spot.

Simon Orchard

Nicely done! Good Q&A! Never tire of this!

James Leighninger

As an American covid-time binge watcher of TT, I had no idea Tony was the director. Massively impressed by the energy that all took and the outcome.

Ann H

Love Sir Tony's contribution to Time Team -- then and now.

John Matthew IV

A long time watcher. I grew up with the series. Mother used to watch it on TV and I used to sit there and watch it too. Over the years, I've finally built up a collection of series/episodes to binge-watch. It's nice to see Tony back to some degree. I was always under the impression that he'd never come back and was ready to move on (which is fair enough). My only wish is that TimeTime could get hold of the original HD formats when they were introduced back into the mid 2000's.

Dean

I have a very busy day today. Then there is Tony for 20 minutes and I sit transfixed doing nothing. Ah, this is the best thing about Time Team. No matter how busy you are a little TT lifts your mood for the rest of the day.

Clare Stapleton

Terrific Q&A.

Kerry Hennigan

So nice seeing Tony back doing what he does best and with his passion for it.

Joakim Johansson

Hi Jessicka, thanks for joining us. We hope you enjoy it!

Time Team

I'm a new sign up! I worked my way through ALL the episodes years ago and I think it partly inspired me to move to the UK. I even ordered one of the original t-shirts at the time which cost more in shipping than the item itself 😂 Love the new program 💕
