Certainly the Romans / European's were trading with some of these Iron age tribes along the south coast for an extended period of time BC / AD ,and being welcomed, as already mentioned... . Presumably it was the Romans who started writing down the names of the tribes? And did the tribes just sort-of fizzle-out and turn into Celts or Saxons once the Roman left (or integrated/fizzled-out)?
