Sutton Hoo | 360-Cam: Tuesday 11th June 2024

It's Tuesday of Week 2 at Sutton Hoo – here's a quick 360-cam tour of the site.

We've been busy filming lots today, so keep a look out for more behind the scenes extras and interviews on the way very soon.

360-vision

This is a 360-degree recording, allowing you to rotate and explore the footage from every angle.

Open the video to watch in YouTube, by clicking on the title link at the top of the video.

While watching the video on a computer click and drag using the mouse or tracker pad: up, down, left and right to get a full 360-degree view in real time! You can also zoom in or out.

Depending on your connection speed, you may need to adjust the video quality by clicking on the cog icon at the bottom of the YouTube window.

If using a phone or other mobile device, it should work by simply rotating the screen.

Well guess who's arriving on site next week with his lyre?

While I'm watching this I long to hear Dr Sam Newton playing an Anglo Saxon version of the song "Woodstock" on his lyre

What's a red flag v a yellow flag?

Graham Dombkins

Ooohh! Looks like lots of finds if that is what the flags are marking.

Delaine Keenum

Congratulations on these finds discoveries so far, and knowing you are doing a good job carefully unearthing and recording for future learning. And what Jason just said above.

Graham Stokes

Definitely looks like good progress being made, thanks for the daily hit!

Jason Mann

Cool, there seems to be a lot of features becoming visible.

Jakub Jůzl

We were there yesterday and you hadn’t got half as many finds. Also, I think you’ve made quite a lot progress because you’ve gone quite a bit deeper. It’s a time-consuming, meticulous process, isn’t it? How far down have you got? Are you at the medieval layer yet?

Keith Gregory

Wondering, there are yellow flags and reddish orange flags. What does each represent?

Jessica Wicks

Lovely to have a walk around the site and to the tent. I, too, noticed all the finds flags. It will be grand seeing them all.

Bethanny Allain

Definitely something going on in that corner. All the finding flags and something bigger
