2024-10-23 04:19:53 +0000 UTCOld timers will know that this series was not received well at the time and in truth I wondered at the decision to include them in the revival. They have worn better than expected. Looking at them now I think two real mistakes were made. Mary-Anne had no obvious role and really wasn't given enough of substance to do, she is better than these shows I think. There wasn't enough for two presenters. Alex Langlands was faced with viewers looking over his shoulder to see where Stewart was. A heavy task to face anyone with. A lower profile introduction might have really helped them cement a place. I enjoyed Bitterley but I thought as a programme it was a little too unfocussed to be really successful. But I do welcome the opportunity to revise my twelve year old opinion on the season as a whole. I think you've made a sensible step here.
