March of progress: OSR2+ & 5-axis VaM Plugin

Hi Guys.

February has been pretty great, especially seeing the popularity of the OSR2. Again I have been blown away by the enthusiasm and support I have had from the community.

I've been thinking about new Multi-Axis Stroker Robot (MAxSR) designs and I am progressing those, but I also wanted to have something ready to release for the new month. A lot of people have already built an OSR2 so I thought it would be really cool if I could put out an upgrade; a bolt-on that would add to the machine without a rebuild or anything like that.

So this month's release is the OSR2+. It's an as-built OSR2 with an add-on box that adds an extra movement axis. The add-on sits sandwiched between the OSR2 base and whatever mount you're using. It's very simple, and yet as you can see the movements it enables are pretty mind-blowing.

This new movement requires a new Arduino sketch and a new multi-axis VaM plugin. The software files are open source of course, so find them attached to this post.

This month I am going to continue working on new machine concepts, but I also have a couple of 3D-printed mounting solutions coming for those of you on the $2 tier. I also think I might take a look at doing something with the Vibration channels. Let's see!

Happy building!

Hm... then save save the value for the compensation in the eeprom and create a fancy configuration tool maybe? ^^ Would be nice too for other calibrations, like the needed actuation range.

It's a good idea. The thing I have to keep in mind constantly however is that I have to keep things simple for all the novice homebuilders.

i did one improvement for me today. I cant install the arms to be on the exact same height on the same Microseconds. So i installed a potentiometer to compensate up to 80 us for one teeth offset. Maybe you can plan something like it next time?

Thank you for your existing!
