Android Port Report

I've taken a few days to look at Ren'py's support for android devices and discovered a few things:

1) Ren'py supports it out of the box with basically no back end work for me to do. It even lets me run emulators for different styles of devices for testing.

2) Ren'py's android version use a different UI layout (because of limited screen size) and would lack features like hiding the HUD and rollback.

3) The entire codebase for Lab Rats can be shared between the android version and the normal version (Except for UI), so there's no problems with version control.

So that's all looking promising for producing an android version as we go forward. Solving the UI problems isn't difficult, but would take a couple nights of work to get everything laid out properly. I definitely want to make sure rollback and HUD hiding is enabled in some way before I would call it good enough. This is work that only has to be done once though, after everything is set up production is a push of a button.

Right now the plan is to continue on with v0.7 and get that ready, then see about producing the android version during the week of patron testing before the public release. The android version would then be pushed out to patrons for a week of testing at the same time as the PC version goes live, and be released to the public a week later.

Glad you enjoy them, these are certainly the most fun for me to write. Programming and game design are my passions, so having a reason to share them with other people is great.

I'm not too keen on the Android as I have a Microsoft Surface, so it's practically all the same for me. But I can see the attraction, it works decently to me even as now. There's no real requirement for keyboard as the interface as it is. If it starts requiring keyboard, Android is going to be crippled (even though theoretically playable). Also completely aside, I humbly request more anal/buttjob/assplay/whatever. It's just my personal kink. But the game is pretty great even as it is, but I do have to say few things about balance as the game is now. Nora is by far the hardest to get to 130+ because her "reduction in resistance" events are way hard to get sometimes, I suppose that will be fixed once you can call her? Because that you can call Alexia ameliorates the problem in her case, although not completely. Also despite finishing with every girl at 130+ (and in one case 160+) I have no idea what Purple serum does... It might be useful? But I figured that I can get by with just blue and red, and TBH I am not sure you even need red. Didn't really do the math on that. So I think it might be useful if you make the purpose of each serum more explicit. Possibly by giving them descriptive names, or some other notification/UI changes.

From a developer in training's point of view, you have one of the most interesting and enjoyable dev logs

I will gladly test that. I run a Nvidia Shield Tablet.
