v0.4.0 Release Date and Other Progress

v0.4 is comming along well, and I'm feeling like it's almost time to release it into the wild. Barring any unforseen problems v0.4.0 will be released to $5 patrons next Tuesday night/Wednesday morning (14/15) for bug testing, then everyone else the week after (21/22). In the mean time, I've got a few more features I want to polish up a little bit, and some new content to write up.

In particular, I've been working on the code for random events tonight. In v0.3.1, random events are fairly simplistic. When you come to a potential event, a random number between 1 and 100 is generated and compared to a value I've set. If it is less, one event is taken, if it's more the other one is. This has worked well for some scenes, such as Alexia's bus trip Minor scene or Lily's night time Major scene. For others, such as finding the door code, this has lead to some problems where the event isn't reliable but is also important for continued progress.

In v0.4, each random event will have a random chance associated with it, similar to v0.3.1. Now, however, every time that event is reached and fails to trigger, it's chance for the next time will increase. The starting, minimum, and maximum chance is all available for me to tweak now, in addition to how much each failed attempt raises the current chance. This should make exploration easier and more satisfying. A few searches of the same event and you can be much more confident there's nothing new there to find.

That's a possible way of dealing with it. Eventually I'd like to have important events such as obtaining the door code be achievable through multiple paths. So one might be getting your influence with Nora or Stephanie high enough then just asking, another would be finding it while they're out, ect. Each would have it's own requirements, and would suit different focuses better.

I feel like a possible solution to the door code conundrum is to be able to get it from Stephanie the morning you "convince" her to help you make red serum. And while I'm throwing in my 2c :) I'd love to see some more uses of suggestions that stay in effect after the scene is over, like Stephanie's helping you make red serum, but maybe a bit more sexy. I'd also like to see more outfit options from each girl, as thier corruption increases. Perhaps mom or lily dressing more scantily around the house. Perhaps because you suggested that they do so while in a serum scene. Great game, quite enjoying it!
