Lab Rats Assets, available for everyone
Added 2017-03-01 05:43:24 +0000 UTCA few days ago a patron by the name of Kravenar Games Team (Who seem to be working on their own project here: https://www.patreon.com/kravenar )pointed out that all of the assets for Lab Rats are unencrypted. If you download the game and do a little digging through the folders you'll find that all of the images used in the game, the music (such as it is), and the script are all available for you to look at and edit.
I decided early on in this project that Lab Rats would be developed free for everyone. To me, that extends to all of the assets used in the game as well, which is why I haven't done anything to make them harder to access. This has paid off the last few days while I was away; a small typo in Lily's new hub scene meant the entire thing was inaccessable. This typo was easily fixed on the user end though, because the script could be opened and the offending line modified.
So, if anyone here wants to use the assets contained within the Lab Rats public releases for something of their own, I encourage you to do so. Dig into the code and modify it however you like, pull the images out and make your own image collection of them, slap on a different UI, or introduce your own major and minor scenes! If you make something and want to share it, go for it! The only things I ask are that you attribute the assests to me (By including a link to this patreon if at all possible), and that you only ever distribute your project for free.
Now I'm back to work on v0.5. I've got a quick bug fix version uploading right now that should be up later tonight and resolve the issues with Lily's hub scene.
EDIT: Bug fixed version is up now, you can get it from the main page as normal.
Comments
Mainly, right now a lot of the images show up behind the text dialog. I eventually learned middle click hides the UI, but was thinking it be better if they weren't hidden by default via transforms or the dialog was hidden for one click to show the full image. Might play around with this.
2017-04-17 18:43:27 +0000 UTCMust say this is one of the main things that made me want to support the project. I appreciate the option to tinker with how the games works. From looking through it, it made me think of improvements I'd maybe want to make.
2017-04-17 18:41:24 +0000 UTCSo along those lines, I sent you a typo / grammar fixed script.py on the bug report form, along with 2 bugs I found reading the code. feel free to merge my work into the working file for v0.50 release. I am thinking about posting it up on my Patreon if anyone is interested in a corrected file before the next release.

2017-03-10 20:23:05 +0000 UTCGood on you Vren. I also noticed that not only do you not lock your renpy code, but you've commented the hell out of it, making it very easy for people to modify to their liking. I wish more devs thought like you. <3
2017-03-10 12:43:36 +0000 UTCJesus...You are awesome...It' s so rare for game developers to feel that way which makes it all the better when they feel like you do.

2017-03-03 17:20:45 +0000 UTCI posted my game on community. I have taken a number of images that you posted here and incorporated into my game. Moms casual is a swimsuit and Lily's apron is one of her bent over pics. I am glad you chose to allow us to make small changes to are game play.

2017-03-02 21:38:39 +0000 UTCIt's the perfect defense! You can't steal what I give away for free!

2017-03-02 05:49:59 +0000 UTCVery cool...I thought of making some other Mom scenes, but wanted to get all the spell checks in to you first. If Mom was going to have her own hub, like the sis does when you chat with her, I thought it might be overkill. Still, I may have some fun with it since I love your images and the game is fun to hack/fix. We've been doing a lot of that over at F95

2017-03-02 00:54:07 +0000 UTCNice... Get a mechanism for crowd sourced additions and the game can keep growing. Then you become the curator/developer. Lots of nice ideas kicking around.

2017-03-01 22:15:41 +0000 UTCGlad to hear you support open source! Too many indie devs get obsessive about their work being "stolen" even though the spin-offs are almost always free and often result in more attention for the original dev as long as proper credit is given. (I for one found Akabur through a modded version of his game)

2017-03-01 18:18:35 +0000 UTCI suppose this would make it open source. I'm not going to make any effort to keep people out of it, and I'm interested to see what other cool stuff people will end up making. A big thank you for the comments either way, it's nice to know other dev's are out there looking out for eachother :)
