New Clothing Items and a Progress Update

I've been doing more work on Lab Rats 2 and got a few new clothing items added into the game. Above we have the new pink thong, suit pants, two piece dress, sweater, and sneakers. That'll help me round out a set of outfits for the first version of the game and make sure there's a good amount of randomization.

As for other progress: each character now has an expected daily wage that you pay if you hire them, and you pay a small fee for each potential hire you screen. When talking to characters there are now options for non-sexual interactions, like complimenting their outfit, flirting with them, or (if they work for you) complimenting or insulting their work. Finally, you can now give your employees a flat cash bonus out of your own pocket, and particularly slutty girls may take that as an invitation to "repay you", in generally pleasing ways.

There will always be more work to do and more content to add, but I think the game is getting to a state that I'd be happy to release as a v0.1. The two major goals are adding a new personality type and writing all of the content for that (which I hope to get done tomorrow), and go through and tidy up all the menus I can to make things more legible. I'm going to aim for a Patron release about this time next week, I'll confirm a date once I'm more confident of my own schedule.

Yep. On the rendering side of the project I have a few things I'm working on: 1) Skin tone. Right now all the characters are white, I'm currently rendering two new skin tones (tanned and black). 2) Facial expressions. I need to modify the way characters are layered to get this working, but new facial expressions are high on the list of things I need to get working. 3) Feet poses. High heels require different foot poses to look natural, which will require a few tweaks to the rendering workflow to get working.

I finally got around to taking the tech demo for a spin, and I'm suddenly way more hyped about this whole thing. I wasn't sure about the randomized characters thing, but I'm now seeing a *lot* of potential there even with such a bare-bones demo. Considering the work you put into things, it could be something spectacular. I'm also really pleased with how naturally the breasts are shaped. Lab Rats 1 was a blast, but the breasts definitely defied gravity in it. Very curious to see what else Daz 3D has in store for us, as well as the sort of randomization system you'll manage (what you already had was way impressive).
