Tidying up the Writing!

I don't have much to report with update, since all of my work has been on writing new content, but I thought I would check in either way to let you know how it's going!

I've finished up the last (I think) of the writing for taboo revisit events that are being added to Lily and Jennifer this update. Now I need to go through and rig up the code so events fire when they should, quests can be completed, and other details like that.

Two of Lily's taboo revisit quests are related to her Instapic career (actually three, but one is resolved without actually touching any of the existing events so it's not a big deal). The first one is just an alternative introduction to her InstaPic hobby if you haven't discovered it yet. The second is a new chunk of progression, where you have to convince Jennifer to start taking topless shots with Lily.

Lots of work still to get done, and especially a lot of testing to make sure all of these events trigger when and how they should!

Oh, and the winning name for Lily's InstaPic counterpart is Iris. There were a couple of other  good names in the same comment, but I like the parallel to a camera iris as well as the flower. Expect to see her (briefly) in the next version!

* If someone gets pregnant but you don't talk to them for a long time or they're on a pregnancy acceleration serum so the pregnancy advances to a stage beyond noticing they're pregnant, they won't ever have a "I'm pregnant" conversation with its request to decide what's to be done. Instead, they'll have the "my breasts are bigger", etc. event when they first see you. This is actually a pretty easy situation to get into with daily serum doses. so it would probably be good to add a variant of later pregnancy events that also include the same "what's to be done" dialogue and choices as the initial announcement for those cases where the initial event would otherwise be skipped.

One hesitation I have here is that, while it isn't likely, I wonder whether we're done tinkering with the serum system. I say this because we recently got a whole new mechanic with how hair dye works, and so I could see wanting to keep the more sandbox like nature of the current mastery system in place until that mechanic is finished. I highlight this because I suspect sandbox-like mechanics are sometimes placeholders until mechanics around them are finished. I think we're mostly done with serum stuff, in regards to how different serums work but... Obviously, I'm not the developer, I'm just judging as a player where every other update, it seems like a mechanic is getting either replaced, updated, or altered somehow. I think we're hitting the end of that period, in which case we can tinker with stuff like mastery more easily but otherwise... Well, observation being super fast seems like a useful kludge. Did any of this make sense?

* If one of your employees gets the "please hire my daughter" event when she's visibly pregnant, the daughter will be generated with a body type of "pregnant" even though she's not pregnant.

Totally agree. Right now, if you want to increase mastery of a trait by research you need to invest research equal to its whole cost per level... which is fine for a trait that costs 100 or 200, but might as well not be possible for the ones that cost 2000 or so - and the ones that are >1000 tend to be the ones w/insanely high side effect chances you need to get into double digit mastery levels to get down to single digit side effect chances...

Nona

Fair point. With that said, if observation has say, diminishing returns, tech research definitely needs to be made faster, especially for serums that have insanely high side effect chance to get down to a reasonable level.

In my persona opinion, Vren. What'd I would personally like to see is for you to focus on more content for the game. Sex positions, scenarios, events, dates, storylines and characters. I'm happy for new mechanics in the game, but if they support new content. I haven't downloaded the past few updates as the content that's in the games, the majority I have already seen. Well, at least the content I'm interested in, being the anything to do with my characters relatives. Would personally love to see you just knuckle down and get some good new fresh content in the game. Something I can be excited about.

I tend to look at the current mastery system in the same way I look at the (now quite old) rules where love & slutiness weren't capped by action type and you could get both to 100 just by small talk and flirting. It was nice for testing things out, but it was too sandboxy, and since this is still a game it eventually needed to be balanced and made less simplistic even if it meant we had to put in more effort to get the rewards.

I'd prefer the latter solution, if only because I'd prefer mastery, through either route, to remain quick.

One thing that bothers me with the current mechanics is how easy it is to gain serum mastery by observation - there's absolutely no reason to ever do mastery research when you can gain at least 1.2 levels in 4-9 traits simultaneously over the course of one time-period (or 2.6 levels at max energy), regardless of trait complexity. Mastery gained from observation probably should have diminishing returns - only the first couple of levels are trivial, and/or the nastery gained should be decreased according to the number of traits the subject is experiencing - and the serums themselves (and possibly traits that only affect duration or price) should probably never benefit from observation since there's nothing to observe w/o additional traits to cause effects. I.e., if you want to study a particular trait, you should have to isolate it so other traits aren't confounding your observations - you couldn't just take a 9-trait serum and expect to learn as much from seeing it in use as you could from a 1-trait serum specifically designed for a clinical trial, so to speak. If you were being forgiving, you could only count traits with a >0% side effect chance as reducing your observation gains - at that point you've got full understanding of that particular trait. As it stands, the only reason ever to do mastery research is b/c you ran out of research options - and even then, since you can now do idle research for clarity, you probably don't want to. Gameplay-wise, it seems like either observation needs to be made less no-brainer trivial, or mastery research needs buffed - an easy (but possibly insufficient) version of the latter would be to cause it to provide clarity gain much like idle research - you *are* refining and exploring the scope of your existing knowledge rather than focusing on a new tech, after all.

It IS a bit weird that serum research is classified when Nora's doing it, but no one cares when we're selling the same or stronger drugs on the open market. Restricting what traits we can sell or making us compete for and fulfill contract for particular specifications could add to the game aspect of things - especially if "simple sales model" and "complex sales model" could be toggled on and off for people wanting to focus more or less on non-sex aspects.

To (somewhat) echo Victor I too would like more writing and content as opposed to feature additions/changes - though I am not against them if they support the new content. I really enjoy this game and the mechanics, don't get me wrong :)

I would realy appreciate if we could decide that a woman is only a slut for us and not for the world and that we are not forced to make them some for questlines. As an afterthought, i think it would also feel better if we where not selling drugs that turns woman into submissive bimbos with whole world looking at it and saying that is a great idea. A restriction (for selling) to drugs that do good stuff would be much better i think. To make it clear i am still a fan of the game and i will also continue to support it (3 years of support makes this game that i supported for the longest time). i also think that it would be good idea to expand storylines before changing something again in the code. It is after all a game and i think most people who play it are not after braindead sex scenes, there are other games that are not sandbox really better for. And please don't take steps to make it more grinding ... grinding is not a good way to mask missing content
