Yeah, the hissing-aliens shtick is such A Thing in Classic Who (see also the Sea Devils and the Silurians -- I don't think that's a spoiler?). Definitely makes it hard to watch. :/

2022-01-22 05:23:31 +0000 UTCWhenever I've rewatched this story the Clent/computer/ionizer stuff always feels a little confused. I don't think it's pacing. I think the writing needed another pass to make sure the stakes and alternatives are clear. And also Clent's character feels muddled. To be clear, I'm not asking that he be a morally black or white person but it feels at times like they hadn't told the actor how to play it from scene to scene. The whole thing needs a clearer throughline IMO. Also - and this is just me - I would enjoy it 400% better if they'd found away of speaking without so much hissing. It's like an anti-ASMR, nails on the blackboard thing for me.

2022-01-20 13:42:54 +0000 UTCYes, Jamie got a bit sidelined in this story - sometimes thatβs a consequence of having so many characters to manage, and sometimes itβs due to scheduling and actor availability (thereβs one story from this era where they replace Frazer Hines with a completely different actor to play Jamie for an episode because heβd fallen ill, but it was done in a very clever way that fit in with the plot). He does, however, get a lot more to do in the next story, which Iβm really looking forward to. Also, Patrick Troughton was an outstanding actor with an incredible range, something you will also witness more of in coming episodes.
