Chapter 717: Drawing from the Treasure Chest

“Father-in-law, I’ll be heading back to my room to enter closed-door cultivation for a few days,” Lin Qian said, calming his mood before informing Ye Nanxin, then rising and heading to his room.

After watching his son-in-law leave, Ye Nanxin contemplated for a moment before sitting cross-legged to quietly cultivate.

With only one year ahead, every moment had to be utilized. After all, the upcoming events would determine his and his wife’s future happiness, so there was no room for carelessness. Once he realized this, Ye Nanxin understood that his priority now was to diligently cultivate and make the most of every second. Although he relied heavily on his son-in-law, he knew he could not afford to give up on himself.

Returning to his room, Lin Qian noticed that Ye Xin was not there, likely spending time with her mother. Ever since the revelation that her mother, believed to be dead, was alive, Ye Xin had been sticking closely to Lan Feng’er, and Lin Qian completely understood her feelings.

But now wasn’t the time for him to dwell on such thoughts. Lin Qian's attention quickly shifted to the newly transformed system shop, his mind racing as he began to explore the changes.

Back on Soul Martial Star, the system shop had only one option: Agricultural Valley. Now, however, there were countless categories, and Lin Qian felt overwhelmed by the variety. Many items looked exactly like those from the games in his previous life, with the prices roughly the same. The billions of Huaxia Coins (or points) he had could now be used freely.

However, Lin Qian wasn’t one to splurge without reason. In his previous life, even though he had spent a fortune, every penny had been used wisely to maximize the strength of his empire.

He had always been strategic about his expenditures, which was one of the reasons why he managed to stay so far ahead of other players.

But there was one weakness Lin Qian couldn’t resist — treasure chest draws. Once he encountered treasure chests, he found it impossible to control his hands, compulsively drawing again and again!

In his past life, Lin Qian had loved streaming his treasure chest pulls, allowing many viewers to witness the excitement with him.

His streams were always packed, with viewers flocking to watch the tycoon’s epic treasure draws. Unlike the typical ten-pull strategies most used, Lin Qian was known for his extreme style, often pulling hundreds at a time. To get the character Sun Wukong, he had once completed a legendary ten-thousand-pull marathon.

This reckless drawing style earned him a massive following, with players eagerly waiting for game events just to watch Lin Qian’s streams and enjoy his treasure pulls. Even if they couldn’t afford to pull the chests themselves, they could live vicariously through him.

In-game items like qualification potions were non-purchasable, and their primary source was through battle challenges or treasure chest draws.

Right now, there were no challenges to grind for items, since those were all built by Lin Qian himself in Huaxia Empire. His only option for obtaining qualification potions was through treasure draws.

Since the opportunity to draw had appeared just when he needed it, Lin Qian couldn’t help but feel elated.

The shop now featured a permanent treasure chest draw option, offering plenty of valuable items, though it lacked the exclusive goodies from past special events.

Back in the day, Fantasy Empire had collaborated with various game developers, offering special prize pools. Lin Qian had once drawn characters like Garen, Ahri, and Riven, though they remained dormant in his warehouse, never fully awakening.

The permanent draws in the current shop didn’t offer such exclusive characters, but qualification potions were still available.

“So, let’s set a small goal. Let’s pull a mere ten thousand times,” Lin Qian mused to himself, cracking his neck and loosening his shoulders before opening the shop interface to begin his spree.

However, when he navigated to the purchase page, he discovered a limit had been placed on treasure chest purchases.

“You can only buy one hundred treasure chests per year?” Lin Qian’s brow furrowed as he read the rules, slapping his forehead in frustration. “What kind of ridiculous rule is that? These chests only cost ten Fantasy Coins each. A hundred chests is just one thousand coins—it’s not even a significant amount!”

Grumbling in discontent, Lin Qian realized there was nothing he could do. Begrudgingly, he purchased one hundred chests, ready to test his luck.

But after opening the first ten, Lin Qian’s face darkened. The rewards were all items he didn’t need at the moment, and not a single qualification potion appeared!

“What the heck? The drop rate for qualification potions is supposed to be high. Am I just unlucky?” Lin Qian thought for a moment, then gathered up the unopened chests and moved to the deck of the ship.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of loud thuds rang out, startling Ye Nanxin, who had been quietly cultivating on the deck. Ye Xin and Lan Feng’er also rushed out of their rooms, confused by the sudden commotion.

“What’s going on? Are we under attack? That’s impossible. This Voidcraft carries the mark of the Xingkong Blue Phoenix Clan. No one would dare provoke us,” Lan Feng’er said in surprise, but as she stepped onto the deck, her expression turned to one of astonishment.

Piled high on the deck were rows of treasure chests, all gleaming with a silver sheen, radiating a mysterious aura.

“Husband, what are these?” Ye Xin asked in confusion, staring at the treasure chests in bewilderment.

Lin Qian crossed his arms over his chest and explained, “These are called Silver Treasure Chests. Opening them randomly yields various valuable items, but it’s all based on luck. I can’t exactly explain where they come from, so just think of them as things I picked up along the way.”

“Among the possible rewards, there’s a chance to get a qualification potion. If we give that to Father-in-law, it can enhance his potential and unlock any dormant bloodline. But I’ve opened ten already and haven’t gotten a single one. Maybe my luck’s just bad. That’s why I’m asking you guys to help me out.”

After Lin Qian’s explanation, the three of them stared at him in stunned silence. Lan Feng’er shook her head in disbelief. “What kind of nonsense is this? Treasure chests that randomly give rewards… does such a thing even exist?”

“My son-in-law is full of surprises. Nothing that happens around him shocks me anymore,” Ye Nanxin chuckled as he approached one of the treasure chests. “Well then, good son-in-law, I just open this, right?”

“Exactly. Why not give it a try, Father-in-law?”

“You’re making it sound like gambling. But considering this relies on luck, I guess it really is similar,” Ye Nanxin joked as he opened the chest in front of him.

As soon as the chest opened, the silver sheen surrounding it dissipated.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

One by one, items tumbled out of the chest, landing on the deck.

Upon seeing what had dropped, Lin Qian’s expression twitched…
