Decided to go ahead and line, color, then shade this piece from the other day. After I complete a few other things I need to work on I'll probably do another piece with these two doing their usual thing, climbing and clinging to each other in the most loving (non-sexual and non relationship-wise) way.
I decided in between the sketch and this to change up Maria's hairstyle finally from being sort of generic long hair to at least in a ponytail. Then I decided to give them their "permanent" colors for any drawings I do going forward. I haven't drawn them much since switching to the tablet so here and now, they're getting these colors.
I also decided to give them slightly different outfits than they had. (Hopefully these look better than their previous generic shirts and shorts.) Speaking of clothing, as you may have seen: here, the sketch of this, page 118 of the comic (when it's uploaded tomorrow afternoon [after work]), and of course Jen's usual outfit, there's the sort of skirt/drape part of the outfit that generally covers the back and wraps around to the front. This is of course intentional for them all to be wearing it because it's a part of what Red Wolves traditionally wear. As it's easy to tell, Maria is a Red wolf (actually only half~~) and growing up in the Red Wolf territory, it's only natural that she would include it in her usual attire. Jen, despite not looking it, is also half Red Wolf (on her father's side) but takes her fur color more after her mother; but still was insisted by her father to wear the clothing as sort of a heritage thing. More on clothing, Brian has his little light colored sort-of vest now which he wears as something instead of the apron he usually wears while forging, since he can't be running on the battlefield with one but likes having something covering his shirt.
Sort of on the topic of clothing: Brian has always had his goggles on in every drawing (and for him and Maria their eyes have never been shown) but there is actually a reason he's always wearing them. They're actually his "lucky-smithing goggles" (as lame as that sounds) it's because he's been wearing them from a very young age (yes they were too big for him for a long while). Despite being born to some of the best fire users and sword smiths in Sraik, he struggled to so much as move a flame; but after being given these goggles he was finally able to start controlling the fire, creating flames and become very skilled doing so. (There's a reason for it, but that might be for another post.)
The other day, in the previous upload, I mentioned how they've been around for quite a while (creation wise) but not the oldest character(s); but then I thought about it, and Maria might actually be the oldest character I have that I still use. But then she's more kind of based of an older character I had used at one point for a thing, so then the oldest character for the use of this whole comic, still goes to it's original title holder like I thought.
As I said before, there's quite a lot to these characters (not really comic related) but their own story, history, interactions, and ties with just about everything make them very interesting to talk about and I could go on and on about it but I'll stop or I'll end up writing a couple of paragraphs.
Aki: "Why are you drawing them again? You're just trying to bring them back to annoy me aren't you?"
Me: "No, I just wanted to draw them again; it's been a long while since I've drawn them."
Aki: "Just don't make them talk to me again.."
Me: "No promises.."
(I may come back and add a thing or two, it's late so I might have forgotten something.)
