If we torture the torturers what does that make us? Arbiters of justice and rightful retribution. Perhaps the guilty should consider the moral implications of the heinous crimes they commit. I personally believe a lifetime of torture is fitting for one who has taken the opportunity for many to have a full life of their own.

I'm very conflicted. The man being interviewed at around 18 minutes has raped and murdered 3 people. that is, undoubtedly, awful. But the thought of being so isolated, and alone, with the constant uncertainty of WHEN you're going to die... plus being left in solitary confinement. I've always been of the belief that the death penalty was counterintuitive, specifically because it is 'the coward's way out' after committing a heinous crime. but this is, simply put, torture. at least in regular life without parole sentences prisoners are given a chance, a social life... if we torture the torturers, what does that make us? This is such a large ethical question mark to me and I still dont really know where even I stand on this matter.

the picture of her as a young girl is devastating. to know she was abused and let down by her family is what led to her crimes....it hurts to see her that young because she doesn't know her fate but we do. in a way knowing what happened to her has led me to be a better father and better adult role model for other children. hopefully I can make a difference in someone's life by just being kind.

2021-03-29 01:01:22 +0000 UTC
The joy of a dog, in its epistemologically different world, at the return of its owner, the unlocking of its cage.
Who or what do we oppress in our journey for justice amongst those experientially similar to us? Who or what do we oppress in our need to emotionally disperse our human traumas onto those we consider beneath us--those who do not share our language or our cognitive scope, our social conditioning? What resources are used to manipulate and entrap people into worlds where criminal behavior appears to be the only option?
Is it really human nature to kill or cage anything that we determine to be an epistemological threat to the maintenance of the mechanics we call social norms? I think we can collectively do better at using this forensic science to pre-empt the systems that entrap people in worlds where criminal behavior appears to them even momentarily to be their only path forward. Imagine if some of the resources we used to punish people were used to identify and rehabilitate offenders before they commit crimes. Imagining a better world is a necessary first step to its execution.

That very first guy being interviewed is a fucking asshole! How dare he cry about his freedoms, his independence, his privacy, and his livelihood being take from him? THAT is EXACTLY what you did when you murdered a person! He has absolutely no empathy. Which is exactly why he committed those crimes and why he is on death row. Good riddance. All of them.
2021-01-09 18:46:24 +0000 UTC
Oh...no. You mean to tell me being on death row and know the day of your death is mental torture? How will I sleep at night?
2021-01-09 18:37:44 +0000 UTC
Yea and even the regular jails, is it about rehabilitation and reform or revenge? In some countries it's clearly not about the former at all, but at least be honest about it, and don't expect anything good to come out of a revenge system. Regardless of what these people did a revenge system has a very decivilizing effect, just as the death sentence does. It will produce more terror and violence and that's about it. The bad will get worse and you won't rehabilitate anyone, as has been seen in these countries. I understand that deterrence needs to be established, but this goes way beyond that and it makes convicts much worse, so any sentence that is over a few years might as well be turned into a life sentence. Do you really want that animal you created, or the person you made worse now roaming the streets?
2021-01-09 09:44:30 +0000 UTC
I don't think death sentences are about justice nor prevention it's just punishment, plain and simple. The stress before the sentencing, the sentencing itself then the emotional roller coaster that follows, the certainty of death, the waiting, the appeals, the death row and so on... It's all punishment. And a lot of them, perhaps most of them, deserve exactly that imo. Long term solitary confinement and total isolation need to be banned though. I don't think making violent criminals go insane is how we should be dealing with them.

JCS isn't exactly a victim-advocacy channel. It's not that no one cares -- obviously, these are tragedies that cause a lot of anguish and we all wish they never happened to begin with. But it would pretty creepy if JCS made a point to say that constantly. There's endless victim-focused content out there if that's your preference, but I think many of us are here to find out more about why and how the crime happened.

100% agree. I think it was the bass line from the Eminem song Stan
2020-07-28 15:37:28 +0000 UTC
I found the background music distracting for this one, my brain kept focusing on the bass guitar being played over and over. Amazingly interesting video otherwise.
2020-07-25 03:54:20 +0000 UTC
I think I agree with the broader sentiment that this person has little to complain about when it comes to their lifestyle. That being said, my definition of human behavior has room for what that person did to earn their bunk, as well as how the guards decide to treat them while they're spending time together. I think we're all just a bunch of highly self assured chimps, with machinery that we can use to act on those assurances with. I thank god we don't have wings.
2020-07-15 06:42:45 +0000 UTC
First guy whining about not being treated like a human being. His lack of self-awareness is almost laughable. Where was his human behavior when he decided to take another life?

What if they're wrongly accused? The percentage of innocent people who end up wrongly convicted is between two and ten percent of an estimated 2.3 million prisoner population. Which would mean that anywhere between 46 thousand to 230 thousand innocent people.
2020-07-06 17:53:29 +0000 UTC
This video brings light to the hopelessness these inmates feel.. but arent they on death row because they took the lives of someone else/or multiple individuals? Usually without showing remorse or empathy? What about the victims and the families of those victims?

Not at all justified. But the interrogator asking about remorse or trying to evoke a hint of humanity, he's wasting his time. Watch any show or documentary about the drug game. If someone tries to get one over on the dealer, they are dealt with. It's black and white to them. No on gets off with a warning.

I believe it is more humane to give someone the death penalty than to lock them up in solitary for years on end. I agree with the rules in Europe putting a strict limit on solitary. Prison is meant to reform and punish, but solitary breaks people.

It's hard to sympathize with a woman screaming that she hopes your wife and children get raped. If you she experienced such a thing and had an ounce of humanity, I can't imagine why she would wish that upon another person. Especially if she was so afraid of it happening that she was willing to kill without hesitation.
2020-05-05 22:13:16 +0000 UTC
Well if I learned anything from this comment section it is not to fuck with Shannon Noble. Is your Nick name gator? You strike me as a person that has never been about playin' no shit. Lmao seriously Shannon, what the hell are you talking about? Are you saying that what he did was justified and that in the same position you would do the same? If so, you're a fucking sociopath.
2020-05-05 13:49:23 +0000 UTC
Not a fan of the questioning for the killer of that Toddy lady. He’s trying to make him feel admit remorse or lack there of. Trying to see what “right” he had to kill her. In the drug game, it isn’t about right. The perception is this lady took advantage of him. You can’t look weak or lenient or people will walk all over you. It’s prevalent in drug trade, prisons, gangs. It was a matter of he getting disrespected and couldn’t let it slide. Nothing about remorse or malice. It’s very cut and dry. “Disrespect me, pay the consequences”

2020-05-02 07:34:37 +0000 UTC
It's funny how it seems like they have only capacity to feel bad for themselves. "Oh look at me, I'm so poor, so mistreated, it's so hard to live like that". Yeah bro, you've been put on death row for a reason. We don't put just anyone on death row. No thieves, swindlers or drug dealers on death row. It's reserved for the worst of the worst. Murderers, rapists, often both in the exact order, that committed acts so vile that a jury of 12 people, after listening in detail to what you've done said "fuck this guy". I'm sorry but apart from people wrongfully convicted, I would never have any pity for you or the conditions you're living in before you're executed.
Wojciech Tolsdorf
2020-04-29 15:22:44 +0000 UTC
The death penalty has no deterrent effect. There is clear scientific consensus on this. States that have the death penalty have much higher murder rates than states that don't.
2020-04-25 23:25:20 +0000 UTC
the bass riff playing in the background of this video drove me completely mad it was so irritating, please dont do this again!
2020-04-24 14:24:01 +0000 UTC
I agree that death penalty is not justice. There are situations that no matter what justice cannot be served but I see death penalty as prevention. Some people cannot be rehabilitated and the society must be protected from them and they also should be used as an example to what could happen to you if you do same/similar crime.
2020-04-24 07:32:30 +0000 UTC
I really enjoyed the last few mins, thanks for that
2020-04-23 15:41:35 +0000 UTC
Hopefully we'll reach a point where the Supreme Court will rule that solitary confinement over two weeks is the violation of the 8th Amendment that it is and we can move past this
2020-04-21 20:19:56 +0000 UTC
Imo solitary should never be used for more then 15 days it is torture to the highest degree the mental damage that does although, maybe comparable to the actions the person had actually committed, are torturous for one to go through multiple times and for such extended lengths the warped self-image one must get. imagine not being able to see any part of any reflection for yourself for that long then take it even further to any vision of a human the damage is insane. there is no chance of reentering society, in my opinion, you need so much mental help.

I'm not against death penalty but there are a fundamental flaw with it. False positives are possible, and you kill innocent person. If there wasn't any false positives (which is impossible) it would be totally acceptable
2020-03-11 14:49:55 +0000 UTC
I'm against death penalty in any case, but hearing people like that rapist a*shole talk bs in that interview always gives me an understanding behind the reasoning. I understand why people want others on death row, but my basic beliefs still can't make me support it. Does that make sense?

2020-03-02 16:03:11 +0000 UTC
You haven't been killed, though, and I'm guessing you don't know anyone who has, or who has been tortured, raped, or otherwise brutalized. I don't think everyone can be rehabilitated. I think that psychopathy is hardwired, sometimes by the combination of genetic predisposition, abuse, and brain injury. Quite often these offenders admit that given the chance they will reoffend, and statistically they are quite likely to, depending on the offense. There are some acts that are so perverse, so heinous, so evil, that they shouldn't breathe the same air as the rest of humanity. It's reserved for a very few.
2020-03-01 05:05:04 +0000 UTC
Death penalty is horrible. No one has the right to take someones life, I know it happens and these people have done it but doesn't make it right for us to. Just an awful way to punish people who have done wrong. And I've had horrible things done to me but I wish death on none of them, just that they get can be better and take responsibility for their actions, and if they were dead there would be no chance for that, and everyone deserves one, we are all human after all no matter the horrible things some of us do.

It's very hard to watch this and know how to feel about it. Solitary confinement seems cruel, unnecessarily cruel. But then, do some people deserve pity? I do agree that if you are given the death penalty, it shouldn't be put on hold or delayed. But then I also think people should have the right to appeal their sentences. Very very difficult to decide how I feel about death row in general, and the death penalty. I am of many many minds about it.
2019-12-10 15:22:58 +0000 UTC
I think you miss the point of the HUR DURR HE KILLED SO HE SHOULD BE KILLED argument, it's not an eye for eye kind of thing, it's ridding an extremely high potential threat and making society safer,
2019-12-10 13:09:01 +0000 UTC
WHAT I FIND MESSED UP IS THE PROSECUTOR THAT GOT AILEEN THE DEATH PENALTY DID IN FACT DEFENDED TED BUNDY, "NOT AT TRIAL" ON T.V. HIS WIFE AND HIM VISITED TED AND WERE LIKE HIS SPIRITUAL GUIDES.. Robert Lloyd Henry murdered my Meme and Aunt Carol in 1993. He brutally stomped my Aunt to Death and stabbed my 83 year old Meme over 70 times. He was executed November 20th 2003. I would have gladly allowed him more humane conditions if he could have returned my Meme and Aunt to our family. Individuals on death row are not the victims. Lets not forget that.
2019-12-05 19:39:47 +0000 UTC
I find it funny that people who murder other people then want mercy for themselves. You should be terrified everyday if you took a life, you forfeited your freedom. You don’t get to take the moral high ground
2019-12-03 19:26:07 +0000 UTC
lose the bass line otherwise good
2019-12-02 12:21:33 +0000 UTC
It seems cruel that if you tell someone they are going to die, then making them wait years and years for it in such awful conditions. I understand these are bad people who have done bad things, but it still feels bad to see a man reduced to this. let their end come quicker.

Bitch please.... you're on death row for sareason.. if it were up to me most of these cunts would be hung upon conviction as long as their guilt was undoubtedly proven... god the beginning of the video made me sooirrationally angry.. yeah you're the fucking victim gtfoh......

2019-11-26 09:10:52 +0000 UTC
regardless of your views of death as a punishment, I think this relies on an understanding of the intentionality of the actions of the perpetrator that led to the death. for instance, if someone is speeding in a car and accidently kills someone, they shouldnt be put to death - if, once released, they continue to drive dangerously, knowing the potential consequences and accidently kill someone again- to what extent have they deprived another of their right to life? there are numerous examples of actions unintentionally deprived someone of life, and the boundaries that separate the death penalty from other punishments are unclear.
2019-11-26 00:03:49 +0000 UTC
sound like a bunch of victims
2019-11-22 23:06:21 +0000 UTC
Brilliant post! Some individuals forfeit their right to life when they deprive others of that very right. In cases where guilt is certain and the condemned has received their day in court, capital punishment, though incapable of restoring victims, is the closest society can get to delivering pure justice.

Regardless of what they have done, We must do the hardest thing which is to show forgiveness and treat them like humans. Condemning people to death has been proven to not bring closure to families and does not act as a detterent for crimes which merit it. This is why the death penalty has been almost wiped out in the majority of the developed world, It is a dinosaur practice and only clung onto in some states because of public opinion. In fact there are little to no positives which come from it and it can have some negatives with sometimes victims families feeling they now have blood on their hands. Killing someone is not only doing harm to them, but to that individuals family whom shouldn't deserve punishment. Tired of seeing comments HURRR DURRR HE KILL SO HE MUST BE KILLED this is ape tier intellect. Thankfully I am confident in the younger generation whom tend to look at the facts rather than their feelings and Im sure this practice will soon be banished to history.

I have no sympathy. Some of these poor excuses for human beings killed and tortured children...I wouldn't piss on them.if they were on fire in a ditch.
2019-11-19 13:08:59 +0000 UTC
its not "feeling bad" for criminals, its understanding that criminals are still people and have basic needs that the us prison system often ignores. You don't have to sympathize with their actions to do that
2019-11-19 10:27:41 +0000 UTC
Am I supposed to feel badly for murderers who spend a great deal of time in solitary? I don’t. I also don’t understand how anyone can.

Punishment seems crazy arbitrary over there. Why did this guy get possibility of a second chance? He cuts the throat of his girlfriend before having sex with her and has a sense of humor about it hours later? If anyone should get life without possibility of parole, it really should be this guy.

So tragic that the 2 teenage boys that killed their family were so incredibly abused by their parents. Their actions aren't justified, but it now validates why they didn't care about the world anymore.

oh holy shit. that detective from the second case - is that the same lady from the interrogation of the lady that got tanked and 'accidentally' shot her husband in the head?

2019-03-27 03:31:59 +0000 UTC
Oof... This was a tough one to watch through, the way he described the murders and the reactions of those other children... Horrible. I cried.
2019-03-21 20:47:44 +0000 UTC
Well that was absolutely horrific. Props to the officer for keeping his cool. I mean, this level of brutality frankly described had to be more than he expected. What monsters...
2019-03-19 19:40:12 +0000 UTC
Love everything you put out for us Jim but please consider changing that thumbnail to something else that doesn’t give that monster more recognition
2019-03-17 08:10:25 +0000 UTC
It's important to know that people can very sanely commit acts of terror, mutilation, rape, etc. Understand that there is a very real beast inside you that when fed (mentally stimulated or provoked), can come out and become all too real. Insanity is different.
2019-03-12 08:57:44 +0000 UTC
Somewhere I read the mother had admitted she let the husband be “too hard” on the two killer boys when they were smaller and I also read that someone testified that the father punched the mother on one occasion so it sounded like a volatile household. Apparently they were all punished for any tiny missteps and if true, that does foster resentment.
2019-03-10 23:24:58 +0000 UTC
RC, you say "no evidence indicates any abuse", but that is not correct. Testimony at trial from one of the victims (sister Crystal) corroborated claims of abuse by the boys. I don't know whether there was abuse or not - but "no evidence" is not accurate.
RBM
2019-03-10 22:37:58 +0000 UTC
No evidence indicates any abuse occurring in the Bever home. You make an interesting point that is fundamentally wrong; victim blaming diverts us further from the truth.
2019-03-10 13:38:54 +0000 UTC
The Bever kids responded to their environment. They were their parents' victims. Most of us, no matter how weird and abusive our parents are, have goals beyond wanting to be famous serial killers. Wish we could have seen Robert's interrogation. Sounds like he was seriously agitated and Michael went along for the approval. His affect is so flat it's obvious something's wrong, but insanity it is not.
2019-03-08 01:15:28 +0000 UTC
I watched the full interrogation of Michael Bever and that is where the name was originally withheld. Perhaps in the original footage the name was withheld due to the fact that she was a minor and then released later?
2019-03-07 12:28:30 +0000 UTC
I’m sorry but I find the guy interviewing Bevar kid to be a total tool. He jumps immediately to questions like “what was it like to stab your brother.” And then he says “but we need to kinda try to stay more chronological with this” like he was blaming the kid for getting side tracked. If that question would have shut the kid down, the interview would be like 10 minutes long.
2019-03-06 20:57:39 +0000 UTC
The only recent case where I truly believed someone was insane was Andrea Yates.
2019-03-06 13:38:13 +0000 UTC
I think it's very obvious this guy is mentally ill and a narcissist. He was previously on medication for voices... although you could say what happened is his own fault for failing to take his meds properly.
2019-03-06 11:36:31 +0000 UTC

at the beginning you bleep out Chrystal’s name but still show it in the captions. Not sure, but if you were trying to conceal identity I’d look over that! Great video, though!
2019-03-06 05:25:07 +0000 UTC
That first one made me feel sick. I can’t imagine stabbing my 9...9!! Yr old brother. but wait theres more you then stab 4 year old sister just to make the power rankings of batshit crazies.

Agreed. It makes you wonder how far gone someone has to be to be considered mentally ill. He seemed very mentally ill to me. This is where the system fails, and I believe the terms of mental illness in court rooms are either omd and outdated, or made up by individuals who don't have first hand knowledge of mental illness...and what of the psychologists that interview these types of individuals!?!?!

im so glad i put my dollar in- the content here is truly quality and i love the way you narrate and explain things so we can further understand and feel like a part of the investigations. im following part 2 from youtube and i think the brothers had an equal part in this one for sure.

damn that detective was on MARSOC? shiiiiit.
2019-03-04 12:28:20 +0000 UTC
I was completely dumbfounded by the two boys. As I watched I found it hard to comprehend just the level of the violence they perpetrated on their family members. The upbringing they had is a warning to other families who wish to isolate children because of the 'evil' they perceive in society. I can't remember ever being as shocked by anything like this before.
2019-03-04 11:10:34 +0000 UTC
I saw that I agree
2019-03-04 11:00:32 +0000 UTC
I actually JUST watched the entire Michael Bever interrogation on youtube prior to this coming out, personally I think he and his brother were equal players in the whole thing.
2019-03-04 10:50:14 +0000 UTC
Damn this patreon content is on another level... Never had any reaction to all of the YouTube content exept interest but this one was different. I had to take a break during the first interview, and during the narrative where he says they planned to chop off the toddlers head with an axe I almost threw up in the kitchen sink...
2019-03-04 08:50:38 +0000 UTC
I was looking through the comments for this... I had to take a break after that. Amazing how well he can keep composure to do what needs to be done :( I'd usually love to be the one who gets to extract the information that puts these monsters behind bars but honestly I couldn't have done this one...
2019-03-04 08:27:28 +0000 UTC

I think the last guy should have been put in a mental institution, His actions clearly weren’t his own so I think he should get serious help for maybe 20-40 years. I don’t think he deserved life, especially compared to those two first kids that premeditated everything and were clearheaded the whole time.

Oh Man.. those two kids in the beginning. SO VERY SAD AND POINTLESS. The first kid Michael Bever just tried to deffer accountability shamelessly! I knew he was capable of knowing what he did-totally sane and evil!!
