Concept Art: Ranger Reeds
Added 2023-07-31 15:12:20 +0000 UTCI'm please to properly reintroduce another ghost character in our story, Ranger Reeds (pronouns: they/them.) Reeds is a cameo character based on my friend Zombee's courier named Six, as sort of an alternate universe version of them. The dead ranger role has been in Noelle's story from the beginning but this cameo helps add a lot of flavor and complexity to it.
Ranger Reeds plays a nemesis role to the Bear Hunter. A few years before the start of FNV, they were tasked to investigate and eliminate the Hunter, a mission that was essentially just a bureaucratic and public relation stunt for the NCR. However, Reeds did stumble upon enough clues that led them to the ruin of a village in the Sierra Nevada, Noelle's old home. After a series of mysterious events, Reeds is found dead in an abandoned building near Nipton by Noelle during her pursuit of Benny in 2281. Puzzled by the strange clues to her home, Noelle took some of Reeds' belonging with her: their dog tag, Ranger Sequoia revolver, and their torn duster. The duster would later be fashioned into her iconic half-cape.
Much like Carla, Reeds is already dead by the time they appear in the story and only interacts with Noelle as one of what we like to call her imaginary friends. They would be the one who encourages Noelle to return to her village and starts the Bear Hunter arc.
I decided to finish Reeds' character sheet today because they likely will appear a bit in the next teaser comic. Also I would like to clarify that although this is a cameo character, what happened to them in our canon is different from Zombee's canon. Our version of them should not be considered standard when talking about their Six. Thank bestie Zombee again for letting me borrow their OC! I love Six/Reeds so much! ♡
