Life Update and Changes

Hey all – I’m back with a handful of updates. As you saw, the Marksmanship is completed and now I’m working on February’s mods. There will be a more detailed What I’m Working On post out shortly.

Starting in February, there will be some changes to my Patreon. The biggest change is new mods will now be released as early access. I want to emphasize that nothing will ever be perma-paywalled, and my terms of use have not changed. Once something is publicly available, it is completely free to use/edit/do whatever you wish.

The other change will be to patron benefits. All patrons will now receive early access to mods. Members of the Bingley tier and above will be able to vote on the first of the month for a mod which will release in the following month, and members of the Darcy tier will be able to request small edits and custom versions of mods, including things like adding your own MP3s to the instruments. There will also be a new commission tier which will allow you to commission small mods that take up to 5 hours for me to create.

So why the change? The short of it is, I’ve been working two jobs for the last couple of years, but for unrelated reasons, I will be quitting my part time job in May. My dream is to not have to find a new second job, and to replace that time with extra modding work. As it stands now, I spend every spare scrap of time I can get at my computer working on mods, and most of my mods take a lot of time to create – anywhere from 20-60 hours depending on what is involved. I worry if I have to replace my second job, my new workplace might be less flexible and I won’t have as much time to spend on creating. On the other hand, if I don’t have to replace this job, I could invest even more time in making new content, which would mean higher quality mods - and faster.

In the short term, what this means is I will continue to provide publicly available updates on how I’m spending my modding time. I will prioritize modding and getting new content updates out as soon as possible and taking into consideration feedback and feature requests.  In the long term, what I hope this will mean is more time spent modding, which in turn means faster responses to requests and bugfixes, more ambitious mods, higher quality content, more detailed gameplay elements, and more.

Thank you to all who have supported me on this journey, as patrons, as testers, as translators, and as friends. I mean it when I say I couldn’t do this without you. <3

I really admire you and all your job. I love all that I need your mods on my game all the time and that's why I starter to translate your mods to my mother language. You change that on me, because I never in my life imaginate that I could be a translator. You rock Jane!
