Creepiest (well-known) Creepypasta?

Comments

Well put!👏👏👏

I was so sure it was Carmen winstead until my mom walked into something in the hall and said “shit!” Lol

Not on here, but I read the Carmen winstead chain text from years ago, which is now a creepypasta. I had gotten it as a chain text when I was I think 12 (2009). Couldn’t forward it because I was on a pantech duo and it had a character limit. I was on family vacation and was staying in a hotel suite with 2 bedrooms, my parents being in one, and I was in the other. The one bathroom was right outside my bedroom door. And of course as I’m lying awake, scared, late at night, I hear water draining in the the bathroom and my heart pretty much stops. I was terrified for like the couple seconds before I realized it was my mom lol. Scared me so fuckin bad. Now for this list, I guess squidward’s suicide scares me the most since at the time I had read the Carmen winstead chain message, which was basically my first creepypasta, i was in a SpongeBob themed room at the Nickelodeon hotel in Orlando 😂

Russian Sleep Experiment is good until the ending bit which is awful, Ted the Caver is genuinely creepy and more grounded. Also caving is just super scary to me lol. Also, JTK as a story isn’t scary at all, it’s honestly comical with how poorly it is written imo, but god the image kept me up at night as a kid. I hope the origin gets found soon

Not the exact question you asked, but here's my personal list of faves (with links!): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MiqoEXCC0lVtcMKS65Ik6uY0t2qSqS0vwjmLzrJZzqg/edit?usp=drivesdk

The russian sleep experiment so over the top insane but, I would say it’s one of the more well known ones. I’ve heard a lot of people who weren’t really into creepy pastas as a kid, still knowing at least a little bit about that one. And as far as jeff the killer goes I feel like for the image most people have seen it, but not everyone knows the actual story behind it.

In hindsight, I can see the Russian sleep experiment being a bit over the top, but boy when I tell you that creepypasta kept me awake at night FOR YEARS…

Emma Bene

Jeff the Killer for me only because I read it in the most typical way: I was a kid and it was like 3 AM and I was on my family computer in complete darkness

Kadiesha

Ted the Caver is creepiest because it legit felt like it could be real. Russian Sleep Experiment was too over the top

Suzy

Jeff the killer always freaks me out but Russian sleep experiment wins for creepiest

I think Ted the Caver is one that feels the most plausible for the longest amount of time. The most recent iteration with the video adaptation was able to build suspense in a great way while feeling grounded for almost the entire time, which I think makes it scariest. I mean, regular caving stories are scary as fuck, like people have legitimately just accidentally died doing the hobby and it can be horrific.

He still gives me the chills to this very day
