July 2018 Production Update

Part 7 is done. If you haven't seen it yet, it's on my Patreon page. The only work I still need to do on it now is to make a trailer for when I release it to the public in September. I don't have any ideas for the trailer yet, so I'm just going to work on parts 8 and 9 until I think of something. I'm aiming to have part 8 come out in late November and part 9 in early December. However, if I don't have enough clips to make two 50W2DiM videos by November, then I'm going to have to release part 8 in December and hold part 9 until June of 2019. 

December has the highest ad revenue per view rate of the entire year. I made 1/3 of last year's revenue in December alone. In my channel's current state, I can't afford to not have a 50W2DiM video out in December, so if I don't have enough clips to make 2 of them by November, then I'll need to skip November and aim for December just to be safe. That's what happened last year. I was actually aiming to make 4 50W2DiM videos last year, but the Christmas one took so long to make that I only had enough time to make 3.

On the subject of Holiday videos, I've received a few requests to make a Halloween-themed 50W2DiM video, but I don't think I'm going to do that this year. It would seem fitting to make a Halloween one after making a Christmas one last year, but late October and Early November are not the best times to release a 50W2DiM video. It's a shame because I think Halloween would be a perfect theme for a 50W2DiM video with all the monsters, ghosts, and evil that comes with it. Maybe I'll make a Halloween episode later if my channel is doing well enough that I don't have to optimize my release dates to keep it alive. 

One might say "Well, if you can't make a Halloween video because October isn't as good for revenue as September or late November, then why not make a Thanksgiving 50W2DiM instead?" The problem with that would be that I don't think I could come up with enough ideas to make an entire video out of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving doesn't lend itself to as many comedic deaths as Halloween and Christmas do. On top of that, music is a very important aspect of 50W2DiM videos and Thanksgiving doesn't really have a genre of music that suits it. There are plenty of techno renditions of Christmas songs I could use on Pond5 and Halloween works with just about anything that's creepy and silly, but Thanksgiving doesn't really have music associated with it that I'm aware of. Also, Thanksgiving isn't really an international holiday, so it might alienate my non-American viewers.

One might then say "Okay, then why not make another Christmas 50W2DiM?" The problem there is that  I've run out of ideas for Christmas related deaths. I don't think I'll be able to think of enough ideas to make another one any time soon.

So that is why the next two 50W2DiMs are probably going to be vanilla flavored. So far, I've recorded 18 ways to die and have edited zero of them. I need 120 edited ways to die in order to make two 5W2DiM videos (I like to have 10 rejectable clips per video to give me room for quality control).

I'm also working on a 100K subs video. The script is done and the dialogue is recorded, so now I'm recording the footage for it and editing it. It's not a big project, but I only spend 1/7 of my work time on non-5W2DiM projects, so it might take a while. Unfortunately, I don't have a way to get a complete list of all of my subscribers, so I can't do anything with the list of names like I did last time.

TLDR

Trying to think of ideas for Part 7's trailer. Need to record and edit 120 clips to make parts 8 and 9 by November. 18 of 120 clips recorded, 0 of 120 clips edited. Will not be making a Halloween or Christmas 50W2DiM this year. Also working on 100K subs video.
