Chapter 51: So Much Money!

Comments

Hi, what you wrote is actually pretty accurate. He can make around 2250 silver marks per month. But you must keep in mind that the umbrifila is a seasonal herb, so he can't maintain such a steady output through the whole year as it depends on the availability of herbs. I kept the year and month lengths similar to Earth's for simplicity. To your other question, I wrote that an apprentice would earn 1-2 copper marks per day. An adult laborer would earn double that at around 2-3 copper marks per day. His father, being a master blacksmith, would earn in the city somewhere around 4 copper marks per day, which translates to around 14–15 silver marks per year, so my math checks out. But as his father lives in a rural village where money is scarce, he gets most of his income in the form of crops rather than money, which is why it is rare to see a silver mark in their household. Plus, most workers, depending on the type of work, are paid daily or weekly, and they spend most of their money on their living expenses, so seeing a silver mark is kind of rare among poor commoners in general.

Hi author , I had a few questions regarding economics. So this chapter mentioned that Darian is selling 10 potions every 2 days, that would imply that he is selling potions 15 days a month in a 30 day month. So in total he sells 15*10 = 150 potions a month. Now , the chapter also mentions he gets 15 silver every potion, that would mean he gets 15*150= 2250 Silver every month. That would mean 9000 silver every four months. The issue is that the chapter didn't mention exactly how much time passed for Darian to earn this money. It is okay for him to earn this much in a month but it would very very less amount to earn it in a 3 or 4 month period. The major issue is that you have not specified how many days there are in a month in this world , that's why I am assuming 30 days. You need to mention how days in a month and how many days in year there are in this world or atleast in the kingdom MC lives. Otherwise all the calculations get wrong since we are assuming days in months/year by ourselves The other issue I noticed in the chapter was the fact that Darian said he earns with a single potion what his father earns in a year. But the issue is that he earns 4 to 5 times with a single potion as much as his father earns in a year. Earlier in the story you mentioned that a labourer or farmer earns about 1-2 copper marks a day, and they make nearly 1 silver mark with half a year's worth of work , so a labourer or farmer would make about 2 silver mark worth of money with a whole year of work. Assuming a blacksmith like Darian's father earns slightly more than a farmer , he could make around 4 silver at most in a year's work , almost double that of a farmer. You also mentioned that seeing a silver mark was very rare in Darian's home when living with his parents , they could never even imagine Darian having savings in silver mark. So in essence Darian making 15 silver a potion is nearly 4 times his father's income. So you need to correct that part in the story
