I had to catch up with all the projects that were running. My good friend Floris still didn't have a decent military belt (cingulum). This really couldn't go on any longer.
It was a difficult project, because Floris has a different waist size than me, it was difficult to measure because I couldn't fit the belt myself.
The leather was also very stiff and difficult to get through. I broke a lot of needles while stitching the leather. I also pasted a layer of linen in it, which is confirmed in archaeological finds, but makes it even more rigid.
The bronze belt decoration was just thick enough to fit through the leather. Alse
I had to enlist the help of my handy father who is a retired firefighter and used to be an orthotist.
I had to put the belt together step by step. One wrong step and I could start over. Luckily that didn't happen. Fortunately, the neighbor's cat came by for emotional support (hahaha).
Finally, the cingulum wisps were attached. And see the end result.
In the future, caps will be attached to the strings.
(PS: Don't mind my slippers and white socks)
