Collaboration with a museum

Salvete patreons,

Last weekend we were invited by our friend Patrick Reeuwijk for a photo shoot for his museum "Het Pakhuis" in Ermelo the Netherlands.

Near Ermelo, two Roman military camps have been found far above the Rhine Limes. The purpose of these camps are unknown. The two camps were built between 170 and 180 A.D. and were apparently in use for a short period of time. The beauty of one of the two camps is that the earth wall and the corner of the wall are still clearly visible (see photos). Due to the drought in recent years, the groundwater level in the Netherlands has fallen sharply. This made the foundation of the camp clearly visible (see last two photos).

We continue to find it so special that despite we do not live in Rome or Italy, we in the Netherlands are surrounded by Roman history that we would like to share with you. Are you near Ermelo in the Netherlands, then you have to pay a visit to Museum "Het Pakhuis". You can see gigantic pictures of us hanging at the entrance of the Museumpark.

The museum is full of various Roman but also Saxon finds. A fun fact is that our swordsmith Robert Wimmers has made an awesome replica of a Roman Ring-pommel sword which is exhibited in this museum.

That sounds like a great hiking trip! If you didn't know it was there, you would have walked right past it without even noticing.

Local Roman history, cool! During my hiking trip through de Veluwe two years ago I visited the camp and the burial mounds on the ermelose heide as well.
