Soundrop and Distrokid are now requiring legal documentation when uploading covers. MUST READ. VERY IMPORTANT!
Added 2022-01-21 17:36:40 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
This is a very important message so please read carefully:
Some of our Patreons have informed us that Soundrop is requesting paperwork to prove if the instrumental you're using for your cover song was made from scratch and that you're not using the original or someone else's work. We're now providing that paperwork!
What do I need to do if Soundrop or Distrokid request that paperwork?
(En Español puedes leerlo aquí: https://jonatanking.com/#legal)
As long as you're a JK Patreon, if Soundrop or Distrokid request you for a proof of agreement you need to do this:
1) Go to this link and download the JK agreement: https://tinyurl.com/JKdocument
2) Fill the document with the following:
a. Full name (The one used in your Soundrop or Distrokid account).
b. The name of the song and anime. E.g: "The Rumbling" from "Attack on Titan").
c. Your printed name (literally write your full name again).
d. The date of signature.
e. Your signature (you can do this electronically with Acrobat Reader).
3) Send your signed copy to jonatankingmusic@gmail.com.
5) Wait for us for the signed document within 48hrs.
6) Send the document to Soundrop or Distrokid.
Why are they doing this?
Distributors have recently started to be more cautious about what the artists upload to the stores. More and more artists are joining digital stores, and there are a few that are re-using (or even re-uploading) instrumentals and artwork found around the web without permission.
As we try to be as faithful as possible to the original work, chances are the copyright ID system will detect your covers as the original work.
