Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC vs. Indy Eleven - REACTION (USL)

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC vs. Indy Eleven - REACTION (USL)

Comments

The 999 is how many goals the club has all time! Also this was the first loss at home all season for Pittsburgh and the 2nd loss in a row after going 13 unbeaten. Stadium sits 5000 and biggest crowd ever was earlier this year of 6200 vs Columbus Crew in the Open Cup. Also regarding the miss by Tola, thats been him all season. Misses the easiest chances but scores the harder ones. Huge Riverhounds fan love to see USL content!

Quick note it's the Monongahela River not the Allegheny that Highmark Stadium sits on!

Dear BANGSO: The best USL games of this weekend are as follows: Rivalry games: Rio Grande Valley FC vs El Paso Locomotive FC. Both these teams are located along the texas southern border with mexico, so it’s the big local derby. It also had seven goals Louisville City FC vs Indy Eleven: these cities are less than 120 miles apart. Now I know in UK terms that’s far, but consider that the Portland Timbers and Seattle sounders are 170 miles apart and that’s the biggest rivalry in North America, you can’t get much more local than this if you tried. The total number of goals shouldn’t even matter in a derby game. High scoring/entertaining: San Antonio FC vs Hartford Athletic: one of the best teams vs one of the worst. Seven goals. Must I say more? Pittsburgh River Hounds SC vs Memphis 901 FC: six goals. Good game. It’s in Pittsburgh. What more is there to say? USL League one game of the weekend: Union Omaha vs South Georgia Tormenta FC probably takes the cake. It was the closest game that wasn’t a draw and had five goals, tied with a 4-1 game for highest scoring game in our third division, but this one was closer. Union Omaha are also one of the best supported clubs in the third division. They are so well supported that they are actually in the process of building themselves a 15,000+ seat state of the art stadium because when they are winning games their current 8,500 capacity venue just doesn’t come close…not to mention the parking lot for the current stadium has a cornfield in the middle of it. That’s what I got for the big games from the lower leagues for reactions I’d personally like to see drop throughout the week until more games next weekend. I didn’t see any great pace or defensive plays from the highlights of the lower scoring games so unless someone saw something i didn’t, without bias, then they probably aren’t really that interesting. Can’t wait for more content both here and on YouTube! Gracie,

On a same/similar note, could be entertaining before the end of leagues cup to do a rest of season MLS predictions video too. Like try to predict the table for the remainder of the season and the playoff matchups and who you think will win each one through MLS cup. Could be something to go up on YouTube like the EPL one as well cause it would be highly unlikely to get demonetized.

Absolutely will drop that one with my friend soon!

Off topic but, Have you thought about doing a premier league table prediction? Would love to hear your thoughts on the league

I'm so happy that you set up your Patreon. Id love to see you do some North Carolina FC USL reactions. Thanks man!

I think Sports Loving American covered most of what there is to know, but I'm a big fan of the MLS/USMNT reactions and it's great to see you do USL now, too. Pittsburgh has a great fanbase, especially for the 2nd division. Also, USL has been talking about starting promotion/relegation either next season or the one after, and would be the first pro league in the US to do so.

So with Indy Eleven they are, along with the Charleston Battery, one of the best road teams in the whole league. They are kinda like the Real Salt Lake, Charlotte or Orlando of the USL. They seem to play better away from home than at home. Indy has a big matchup this coming weekend with their closest rival in their derby game with Louisville City. Louisville is expecting a crowd of over 15,000 at that game, completely selling out their stadium to standing room only and breaking their own attendance record of 14,673 that they set just last year. Pittsburgh’s stadium is quite small. Going off of memory I believe it is the second or third smallest in the USL. I think it holds 5,500-6,000 or so. It’s one of the most spectacular though. One end is completely open to the Allegheny River. The Allegheny is one of the most commercial rivers outside of the Mississippi in the country, especially for Pittsburgh as Pittsburgh is a very industrial city, known for it’s steel manufacturing and similar blue collar jobs. You also get to watch many of the industrial ships going up and down the river passing the stadium during the game, and you often hear their horns blaring while the teams play. From the seating bowl you get a great view of the Pittsburgh skyline and can see many of the cities world famous and stunningly beautiful steel bridges and old fashioned buildings. Not having an upper bowl gives you a view of this from just about anywhere in the stadium. Behind one side of the stadium is also an industrial train track, and freight trains will frequently pass by during the game and cross the river. Sometimes, in quite comedic fashion, the train will blare it’s whistle to alert boats and automobiles that’s it’s coming to the crossing which often will send the stadium into pandemonium as it is indeed extremely loud. It definitely spooks the players from the opposing teams but the home side has gotten used to it. Catching a game in Pittsburgh is something I’d like to do at some point but it’s not only quite a drive from Birmingham due to its size unless you go to a Wednesday night game it’s extremely hard to get tickets because it usually sells out every weekend. The 999 mentioned by the broadcaster is referencing team all time goals. The Pittsburgh River Hounds are chasing 1,000 all time team goals in the USL Championship and entered this game two goals away. They should get their 1000th this weekend when they host memphis 901 FC, a team that allowed four goals to Orange County last week…a team not necessarily known for it’s offense. You should definitely check out the USL Championship stadiums video by TFC Stadiums. They have a 2023 edition. I believe you reacted to their MLS 2023 stadiums vid back in March. There’s a lot of unique grounds in the USLC.
