So happy this exists! I don't know why I didn't know that Vinnie, Brad and Alex had started their own thing after they all left GB and I was just checking out the old GB wiki today to see if I could find out where they ended up and I found my way here!

I don't think Sony needs to match Microsoft's day and date strategy for all games, but they do need some big splashy announcements to catch the attention of new customers. I'm all-in on Xbox, but would love to play a curated list of new and old Sony exclusives. If Sony had an offering like the $25/month All Access contract for Xbox Series S, I'd be one of their customers. Playstation is successful as-is, but if they want to compete in this exact space, they need to entice folks who are interested but not enough to pay PS5 hardware prices.

Sony’s Market cap is 150 Billion Vs Microsoft’s 2.5 TRILLION. The economics of the two companies don’t align at all. GamePass doesn’t even have to make money. It is a long term play centered around acquiring users for Microsoft. Xbox division is only 10% of their revenue. Playstation is the most profitable division if Sony by far, generating a quarter of their revenue. The idea that Sony could just shift to day and date GamePass style first party is - as you mentioned - only really feasible if they ditch the single player stuff they are known for and start loading their games with battle passes and other money making schemes.
