I imagine it depends on what options are available in the home. Currently, we have a nice closet right next to the entrance to keep coats/shoes. My previous apt had a tiny closet so I kept my shoes under the bed. Honestly, whether you wear shoes or not, your house is full of all sorts of grossness -- especially if you have kids and pets.

Another Canadian here chiming in about shoes on or off in the house question. You'll track all sorts of grit, gunk and grossness into your living space with your shoes, which is fine if shoes are on all the time; however, that begs these silly questions, Where do your shoes live? Are they just beside your bed and you put them on when you get out of your bed? Is there not a dedicated place for shoes in the house? Does every member of the house hold keep their shoes at a different place?

I know I'm late to the game here, but "Big Trouble in Little China" holds UP! There's no "yellowface," and the entire point is that the meathead white dude (Kurt Russel) thinks it's his story, but it's VERY CLEARLY the Chosen One Chinese character, who Russel keeps thinking of as his "sidekick." It's a wonderful deconstruction.
