Well, here we are at the end of the first week of Nextlander, and I think it's fair to say all of us are just plain speechless. Actually, two words do come to mind: thank you. We spent the last month wringing our hands about whether we could even pull this off, supporting ourselves by going directly to the people who enjoy what we do, but every person reading this has helped carry Nextlander way, way beyond every goal we set for it. The outpouring of support has been validating and humbling beyond words, and we'll do everything we can to do right by your generosity as we work to build this thing into something we, and you, can be proud of.

Beyond thanking everyone profusely (seriously: thank you, I'll stop thanking you now, but also thank you), we wanted to list out a handful of things that are front of mind for us as we get through the rest of E3 and start hammering out a routine later next week.

Discord and Twitch moderation: The population on our Discord server exploded overnight and our Twitch chat is also quite active, so getting moderators in place is a big priority. It may take us some time to get a feel for our budding community and start putting the necessary pieces in place, but rest assured it's a top priority (and a prerequisite before we can add things like a politics/current events channel). In the meantime, we deeply appreciate everyone for being so chill on Discord thus far that we haven't even had to address any moderation-ish issues yet.
Scheduling, notifications, and more: We're early on in mapping out our weekly routine, but we've got a lot of ideas around ongoing shows and release coverage of new games that we'll codify soon. Once those are in place, we'll take steps to start messaging what we're doing and when in an easily digestible format. Over time we're also looking to rig up Discord and Twitch bots that will automate a lot of those notifications about streams and such. In the Discord case, we're also looking to have bots handle stuff like assigning roles for pronouns, opt-ins for certain channels, and so on. (Thanks to everyone who left feedback in the suggestions channel, and extra special thanks to NinjaDuckie for collating all that feedback for us.)
Taking a deep breath: I think I can speak for all three of us in saying the response to Nextlander has been a lot to process, so we're going to do our best to stay the course on our initial plan to produce good podcasts and video--in other words, make sure we get the fundamentals right, and see how things settle out after this explosive first week--before we start looking at any substantial future growth. We're still early on in the process of figuring out how to run a small business (early impression: a lot of PDFs and things to sign), so bear with us for a bit longer as we fill in all the boring behind-the-scenes administrative stuff and turn our attention more fully to content and community.

Also, because Patreon doesn't surface these as prominently as we'd like, here are links to our Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube in case you need them. And if you need help getting on the Discord, that info is here.

It's still early days around here and we have a ton of stuff to plan, ponder, and implement, so just refer to the large imaginary UNDER CONSTRUCTION .gif over our heads as we tick off these and other items on the to-do list. With your help, we'll turn Nextlander into one of the best places on the Internet to relax, have fun, and share in the things we're all passionate about. Until then, we'll see you at E3! Whatever that is!

As someone who's never used discord before, I hope it's easy to figure out how to know when you're streaming and interact with the chat there etc if I'm able to catch you live. Most of the time I've only been able to watch Archives of these kinds of things just because my schedule doesn't always line up, but in those cases where I can I'd love to figure out how to do that.

At this point, I will ride with you guys for as long as you want to do the thing. Thank you for all of the work you have done throughout the years. I am very excited to see what Nextlander becomes.

I just want to say that Nextlander popping into existence this week has been awesome, and much needed during a stressful time. I have the utmost faith you guys are going to make awesome things and I’m happy to be here supporting along the way.

Thanks for the update, Brad. Congrats on the overwhelmingly successful launch. I’m genuinely as excited for you three as I am to see what you create together. I’ll do my part to keep things heading in the right direction.
