The Nextlander Podcast 014: The Unhappy-Kid Exclusion Zone

This week! We're on a cosmic voyage in The Artful Escape, playing post-apocalyptic golf in Golf Club Wasteland, traversing a Midgar Metroidvania in F.I.S.T., and hanging out around a placid lake in, uh, Lake. Plus: the Tripwire kerfuffle, the Horizon pricing fiasco, Alan Wake remastered, and the most difficult game of all: keeping the small children in your family happy.

Comments

Sony has just been a complete mess ever since the EU team was promoted to leadership and pretty much all of the US and Japan leadership and other high level people were canned. I think Shu is pretty much the only one of the old guard left, and they kinda just shuffled him out of the way over to indie game relations. I wonder how long they can let Jim Ryan continue to do these bonehead moves that the whole world has to yell at him to undo. I think it's notable that Jim Ryan is more of a business guy than a games guy, as opposed to someone like Layden who had been there for decades and had worked on games before. The generation swapping between Microsoft and Sony is wild. Microsoft got rid of their terrible head who was a business guy and put in Spencer who is more on the actual games side, while Sony got rid of all of their long time people and put a big business guy in charge. What's going to swap next.

If you own a private business and you say dumb shit, things happen and you dont deserve any protection. He is the opposite of a victim.
