TOM HANKS AS MARIO

Julian Spath

Looked it up and it was the Vs system that was in my local stores as a kid. But it wasn’t labeled Vs in any way I can recall - it just had a standard cab with Super Mario Brothers art. And the version it played was just a straight port of SMB. The reason everyone played the arcade version is because no one in my town had an NES yet. The arcade port came out in ‘86 and at least in my town the NES didnt really get going until they released a version that didn’t have R.O.B. - which according to my search was 1988. I only knew one kid who had the ROB version of the NES. I actually thought that SMB on NES was a home version of that arcade game all this time. I had no idea that the arcade game was a port if the home game.
