Regarding the metaverse discussion in the news section, yes, the metaverse is just the internet, but it's the internet a company can charge you to be on. These companies are scrambling to privatize the internet, and the term 'metaverse' is more politically acceptable than just saying 'we want to be the company you have to pay to use the internet'. Meta's claim it wants to take 50% of transactions on its version of the metaverse is revealing on how this is moving.

i worked at killington for years- glad to hear Forrest is still there lol. skiing doesn't have to be bougie but killington is definitely aiming to be an east coast Vail, if you want something less expensive and still beginner-friendly pico (the sister mtn down the road, same owner) and plattekill ny are really good options. skiing is kind of like gaming in that tons of resorts are consolidated under like 4 major corporations, but plattekill's still family-owned which is cool. it's def an insanely expensive sport compared to when i was a kid, which is part of why i worked there to begin with also from rutland and can confirm it's a hellmouth. solidarity michael
