I agree with all of these assessments. I'm an Elder Millennial that works with and rents an apartment with Gen Z'ers. I got to explain Y2K to one of them recently which was an absolute delight.

Here's what I would say about the social platform age groups as someone in their early 20s, I think the guys are pretty off on some of them: YouTube: everybody, but noone cares about shorts at all Facebook: πŸ’€ Twitter: Old/middle aged people, some older gen zs like me were on at one point but after the Elon stuff I doubt anybody young is joining it's all like weird alt right people now Tumblr: middle aged people Bluesky: Old/middle aged people, the vibes are so rancid that I don't think any young people would stay for long honestly Cohost: Middle aged people Insta: young people/teens, the most popular aside from YouTube for my age group by far, Insta reels are huge and have a lot of recycled TikToks, also people use the messaging and have conversations with friend groups in post comments definitely not just influencers TikTok: young people and teens, more popular in major metros and with affluent people than insta, but also it's sort of like twitter was in that only a tiny minority actually post things Snapchat: young people and teens, most use it as a text replacement but Insta is kinda cutting into it in all areas. A lot of people get their news from Snapchat also in that section below stories. Idk what the "sex pest" thing Alex said is from, it's ubiquitous Mastodon: πŸ’€ Discord: Everyone. You use this to keep group chats with your friends for specific things and for like watching movies or streaming games together if you are far away from each other, also you use it for school groups and stuff. Tons use the mobile app it's great
