Shogun 2 was such an amazing game. I still play the Fall of the Samurai expansion. Something just so satisfying about leveling a castle with off map naval artillery or mowing down a calvary charge on your flank with gatling guns. Shogun 2 was the last historical Total War that I adored. Empire just had so many misteps and jankiness and I really didn’t care for a lot of the strategic gameplay mechanics CA did with Rome 2. Also, Rome 2 is where CA started gating off factions with day 1 dlc that really turned me off. The TW: Warhammers I mostly agree with Rob, but Warhammer 2 just hit a sweet spot for me and sits alongside Rome, Medieval 2, and Shogun 2 as my favorite Total Wars and some of my favorite RTS’s.
