I thought a Jude Law month was random and kind of a dumb choice. But I was wrong! Really enjoyed most of the movies, the discussions were fantastic, and now I'm seeking out a few more of his movies. Stuff I dismissed because he just seemed like a pretty boy actor.

Looking forward to Flim Flam February

Really, really dislike this film so interested to see what ya’ll think! Edit: oof Parasite too haha, interesting selection next month!

I want them to do an Ethan Hawke sci-fi, or genre, film month like they did for Jude Law. Predestination would be a great option.

Correction for Alex -- the exterior shots of the triangle topped building was actually shot at Cal Poly Pomona. It was the CLA building, which was just recently demolished due to it not being up to earthquake code. It's a bummer -- that building was rad.

To quote Jason Mantzoukas: "Gattaca! Gattaca!"

Dr. Judge, Private Eye

Yes, the eye-scanned targeted ads was Minority Report.

Former co owner of a solar energy company here. That facility in the movie is a solar thermal electric plant. It uses the sunlight to boil water instead of photovoltaic cells. They were made before the 90's when photovoltaics became affordable enough to be used widely. They only started getting affordable once semiconductor manufacturing went into overdrive. Both require high purity silca, which requires a good foundry. I believe the one in the movie is in New Mexico.

Watched for the first time, and was blown out of the water! Thank y'all for putting it on the lineup!

Turns out I thought I saw this movie but ended up not being the case. Trying to remember the movie where they advertise holographic ads at you based on your identity as you're walking through the streets. Minority Report? Anyway, great movie. Very Fincher-esque.

Watching this for the first time today, I loved the cast, the story, the ethical questions it raises, and the world of the movie. What I didn’t love was how boring the movie as a whole ended up being, in spite of all the things I really like about it.
