"The great explosion that arose after the Prince Rurik ritual marked the end of the time of men as we know them.
Trapped by the perpetual ice of the glaciers of the Forbidden Mountains, the Varyags Warriors of the Lost Tribe of Novgorod emerged from the frozen rubble in which they had been trapped for thousands of years. Living memories of a violent past, these warriors inhabited the world as a great pack of hounds striving to survive. With colossal musculature, it would take dozens of men to stop a few of them. These… creatures… belong to a world before this, their mere vision recalls the past of an old time. They carry as trophies the horns and claws of ancient monsters that devoured the world and that they regularly faced to survive.
United under one banner, the Varyags Warriors of the Lost Tribe of Novgorod now serve their master, who has brought them back from their sarcophagus of ice to reclaim the world that before the Age of the Sun belonged to them. The last ice age brought as a consequence the disappearance of the Tribe and with them all the creatures that inhabited the surface of the planet. Forgotten for centuries, they have remained patiently locked in ice, cultivating hatred and revenge, waiting for the moment when someone would gather enough power to free them from their prison.
The Varyags Warriors are the primary heavy infantry unit of the of the Lost Tribe of Novgorod. Prepared for direct assault, they are crude in the handling of conventional weapons, which are little more than cutlery next to the gigantic axes and rusty swords that they carry for both war and hunting beasts. Adorned with the horns of ancient monsters, these warriors of the Lost Tribe of Novgorod march into combat chanting in a strange language that only they remember. Their armor carries the pale sheen of deep iron, a mineral found today only under the highest mountains on the continent. Practitioners of a forgotten creed, when a member of the Tribe manages to kill his first woolly rhinoceros, the animal chest is mutilated and skinned. Afterwards, the oldest member of the Tribe heats a pale iron breastplate in the embers and attaches it to the chest of the new member of the unit, placing the first piece of his impregnable armor that will accompany him forever in combat. No more than eight warriors are enough to initiate a forceful attack on the enemy.
The old warrior, commander of the unit, will lead them in battle, mercilessly attacking the weakest point of their enemies, listening to the sound of his drum made of mammoth skin, which like those ancient beasts, they will see cornered between their axes and the Abyss."
