I give my dog dental chews! It’s definitely helpful. She’s 6 this year and we haven’t had any issues or needed a cleaning yet.

Yeah I would suggest trying another vet too, some just want to add unnecessary things to check ups and that sounds like overkill to me too (having grown up with several dogs). And would the Pokemon ZA not just have like a free switch 2 upgrade you could download maybe? I think I've seen that done for an Atelier game on PS at least. P.S. You guys are adorable!🤍

uhhhhhh that vet check up sounds wild. I take my dogs every year to the vet like you do, and they’ve never had to do all of that before, besides vaccinations and a quick check over. The ear thing makes sense, but all that weird blood work stuff sounds really weird.. and the muzzle too? I know Darla has a bit of a specific situation so she probably needs more checking in than some other dogs.. but I’d maybe try another vet next time if it’s possible for you 🤔🤔 that seems really overkill and like extra torture than is necessary for Darla. But, yeah I have heard that dogs need to be knocked out to have their teeth cleaned professionally by a vet. It’ll probably cost you $1000 at least for that. (I think it’s around $1600 CAD at one of the more expensive vets in my area) But, you probably don’t need to do it at 2 years old. Probably more like 3-5 years old for that, I’d guess. If you keep brushing her teeth regularly, and giving her dental chews to work out stuck food, you probably don’t have to do the vet dental anytime soon.

I had a big dog for about 11 years and we never had to have his teeth cleaned, and the vet did check them sometimes. Regularly, maybe 2 times a week we would give him a treat chew stick called a Dentastik which seemed to do just fine. Of course there are various brands of the same idea. I've also heard just giving them something like a bone or antler to chew on can help clean their teeth while playing.
