Developer's Journal 3:17

Hey everybody.  I worked on and finished a scene with MC and the Carrington siblings this week.  I'm happy with my level of production, but there were some setbacks.

On Tuesday the graphics card on the new computer stopped working.  Due to my work schedule I wasn't able to take it in for repair until Friday (yesterday), and it will probably be two or three weeks before I get it back.  Naturally, one hour after the computer which I bought for handling animations died, the animator sent me the first four animations for the new episode.  So those are going to get a late start.

Then, later the same day, my Daz Studio apparently acquired some bug where it now takes me between eight and nine minutes to save each new .duf file.  I don't know where the heck these little glitches come from, but having this as a persistent problem would be very bad.  A typical work session involves creating between half a dozen and two dozen renders, each its own .duf file.  Eight minutes to save each of those would cost me between one and three hours of production time per session.  That's not feasible given the already limited time I have to work on this game.  In addition, the scene asset extraction script, which I use to send my posed lewd scenes to the animator, has also decided it doesn't work anymore.  So I'm going to have to sit down tomorrow and figure all this stuff out.

Well, no one said this would be easy, right?  I'm plugging along.

That's all for this week.  Thank you for your support!

When it rains it pours. I'll better spare you any more platitudes and just hope that this doesn't discourage you, that would be a real shame. Thanks for continuing plugging along, even in face of all obstacles. From what I've read or seen about DAZ, I'm convinced that anyone who works in this ecosystem either has inhuman willpower and resilience or will end up as an alcoholic. We can only hope that this run of bad luck is over for now and that good/better days will follow. Those previews are very nice, especially the close-up. I love those for all the detail they have.

Hang in there... you're doing great work.
