It seems that for every argument for God, there is one against. And vice-versa. Most of those for God (such as the first-cause argument) rely on circular logic. As for "consciousness", it is undefined. Who or what is conscious? We are. Is the lizard conscious? Are jellyfish conscious? Are plants conscious? Are bacteria conscious? Inanimate objects, such as your PC monitor, are not. Right? But what when we develop a highly sophisticated artificial intelligence system that mimics the human brain? Is it conscious? Are there higher and lower levels of consciousness? This is a conundrum.
