March 2019 Newsletter

Hello!

Welcome to the March 2019 newsletter. Let's talk about the previous month!

Also, if you're actually reading this, smash that little heart button. I'm trying to figure out how many people read this.

Mages & Murderdads has slowed down a little bit. As you can tell from the past couple episodes, we really just are not enjoying Tides of Numenera, and combining that unenjoyment with a generally busy schedule means that we've been dragging out heels. Never fear! We've currently got a scheduled locked in that will allow us to finish the game in the next couple weeks, so go excited for that. Our next game is going to be Icewind Dale, and we talked a little bit about that in the monthly podcast this time (which you can access by supporting us for $5 a month if you're not already!)

Game Studies Study Buddies is also going great. February's book was Games of Empire, and it ended up being our longest episode yet. We recorded for nearly 3.5 hours, but I got it down to less than 3 in the final edit. Whew! You can subscribe to the show here. The next episode is going to be about Alexander Galloway's Gaming: Essays in Algorithmic Culture.

We also launched the Patreon-funded Helpful Homunculi, which is now free and available to everyone! The point of the show is to help people who are interested in running tabletop games. We tell stories and give very specific pieces of advice. Check it out, subscribe to it, and tell your friends! The first episode is about running your first session!

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We're still light on YouTube content this month, but this will get better at the top of the summer when CMRN's commute becomes a little less brutal (currently it is 3 hours a day). Then we'll be closer to where we used to be.

  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's no review from Danni this month, but that's because we're saving up for a lot of special content in April. We're going to have a few days to make all the kinds of things you enjoy and love, so stay tuned for some board game reviews, podcast content, and some YouTube stuff. Also probably Flip It Or Rip It?

See you next month!
