September 2022 Newsletter
Added 2022-09-07 02:10:46 +0000 UTCThe Summer of Classics continues. We've learned a lot. A lot about the classics.
Game Studies Study Buddies has released an episode on a germinal text of early game studies, Dovey and Kennedy's Game Cultures, and I feel confident that if you have not listened to it yet that you probably should. The book does a great job about setting the stakes of what game studies cared about in the early 2000s, and it gives a lot of context to the focal points of that era. There's a lot of cool ideas in it! Check out the episode, and get ready for the next episode on Bernard Suits' The Grasshopper.
Remember that you can buy the books from our shows over at our Bookshop.org shop!
Just King Things will have a The Tommyknockers episode out in less than a week, and to give you a preview: we were both astonished to really enjoy it. Simultaneously, we do not have enough negative words to describe the tv miniseries. The episode and the bonusode are some the biggest whiplash eps yet, and they'll be out on the 12th. Tide yourself over on the backlog.
Homestuck Made This World continues through Act 6. We have met what feels like ten thousand little weird gremlins, all of whom are rude as shit in their own way. We watched the first ten episodes of Lost and talked about how it figured into Homestuck, and the next bonusode will center on fan animations. Check out the bonusodes over here!
Here's a secret buried at the end of this post (and in the Monthly Podcast, which you can access for $5/month here on Patreon): Too Much Future returns with the Fallout 4 season on November 3rd. If you read this, please hit the "heart" / "like" button here so I can know how many people actually read this monthly newsletter.
You can check out the VOD playlist of Final Fantasy VIII that we've been streaming every Thursday night by clicking here. We're going to be done streaming that soon, and it'll probably be replaced by Danni streaming Outward.
A huge thanks to all of you for supporting us! We've taken a little hit this month, so your support matters a lot to keep us going and buying weird Stephen King research materials so that we can maximally understand The Tommyknockers. Thanks again, and we'll be back in this newsletter next month!

2022-09-07 11:33:57 +0000 UTCCan't wait to hear your thoughts on Tommyknockers. I saw the mini series back in the day, but it so put me off that I never got around to reading the actual book.

2022-09-07 02:20:27 +0000 UTCExcited to hear about the Tommyknockers, one of that tranche of King books with wild, creepy premises I enjoy greatly in abstract but never get around to seeking out. Looking forward to some more Too Much Future, too! :>
