They Live & Immortal Combat with Special Guest Roddy Piper (Air Date 8/8/98)

It’s still Splatterday night in El Lay, right? When you’re at a con time no longer has meaning… 😋

I fell asleep in the midst of posting this earlier (right after watching AEW with JB which, lemme tell ya, was quite the treat! 😋), but better a wee late than never, right? 😉

This is one of my all-time favorite Monstervision eps (and quite possibly my absolute favorite!) It’s pretty readily available online but I have to think there’s still some of you who haven’t gotten to see it yet. And even if you have seen it a bunch (like me 😋), the quality of this version is just so great, it’s definitely worth rewatching these icons together in their newly restored glory. (I’m thinking this might be a candidate for Vol 3 of the Blu Ray?)

Hope you’re having a wonderful “Almost Halloween” weekend. I’ll see some of you tomorrow for Day 3 of Monster Mania, and hopefully even more of you tomorrow night during our Discord watchalong.

Sending a whole heap o’love uour way, as always…Have fun tearing the 🖤out of what’s left of Splatterday Night, Patreon pals! 😉 🖤🖤🖤

Hey, I'm a new Patron so apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but is there a way to download these? I ask because 'Immortal Combat' is largely out of print and not streaming anywhere BUT someone at archive.org uploaded a VHS rip of the movie and I think it'd be a fun project to tackle to attempt to re-edit the Joe Bob and Roddy clips back into it.

This has got to be one of the best episodes

This could be the best guest appearance ever! Two absolute legends.

Met Piper about a year before he passed at a convention. I was nervous as hell (it was a real long line) but he made sure to put me at ease, talked to me about They Live (remake rumor), and I treasure that autograph. Means a lot especially when he had all the right to be a grouch with the upbringing he had.

Oh sweeeeet! You did it! Definitely my favorite Joe Bob Episode. Roddy Piper was one of the most unique people ever. Love that guy so much. This one definitely deserves the better quality version. The one on YouTube is okay but you can tell it’s someone’s old vhs recording. Not that there’s anything wrong with that vhs recordings of 90’s tv were a right of passage for kids growing up then. Mst3k:) Circulate the tapes!

What is this? Disparaging Kilt remarks? There's a reason we call it a Kilt, because the last person to call it a skirt ended up Kilt.

Piper was a born entertainer. What a colorful life that man lived. Encouraged to add They Live to my October lineup even though I probably watch that movie every few months :)

Great episode. Thanks for posting!

God I would love for Joe Bob to revisit they live. What a fucking classic it has become.

My question is in our messages thread 😉😉

Always. 😞🙏

Aww. Awesome! Thank you gor letting us know! And for reminding me I need to post a new Ask JBB!

Yeah Roddy was one of the best. He is missed.

Awesome post! That's rad you watched AEW with Job Bob, that goes along the lines of my Ask Joe Bob question! Roddy Piper is the man can't wait to watch these tomorrow! Immortal Combat is on YouTube https://youtu.be/aoZVKwmtJPI

Amen to that! There are so many I miss so much, and Hot Rod is right at the top of that list. 😞❤️

This was great, Roddy pipers hilarious! Those 80s wrestlers are some of the most insane personalities. Too bad so many of them are gone too soon
